RE: Week 45 - ITF ($10K) - Loughborough, UK Hard

When you look at Anna's losses this year she seems to have played many highly ranked players in draws. Had she not suffered with that she'd easily be top 400-500. Think with a good week next week the 500 mark is still possible.

Anna Smith and Joss Rae have just trounced their doubles opponents (the Vajdovas) 6-1 6-2

Am I right in saying Jasmine has to win the tournament to get a ranking?

Yes the points system is somewhat baffling, 6pts for QF and 8pts for SF and 12pts for winning. Not much for getting from QF to SF.

I think we may see a lot more new names break into Steven's top 25 table soon. Amy Seargant, Freya, Jasmine, Lauren spring to mind.

Lucy Brown, who had a terrible week, will be a top 4 seed next week and Anna S may sneak a seeding from her Barnstaple points.

Anna S should win this and another good week should see her break into the 500's

Great result from Jasmine - good to see Anna win as well.

Anyone know what is the highest number of debut points from a British player?

Your version is funnier, and she certainly felt the heat against Jasmine today, but I think Camilla's surname is actually Rosatello biggrin

Laura came flying in at Brit no. 14 as she'd won the Shrewsbury 75K in 2008, or something like that, I think.

Then you had to get points from 3 separate events, even if you'd got a large number from 1 event.

Do you mean in their first senior event (probably not, since it isn't Jasmine's first event), first main draw or first ever counting score? Not sure why I am asking because I can't easily find a definitive answer anyway, but for example:

Heather got 8 points in her first main draw (Jersey 25K L16 in 2009) - it was her 2nd senior event but her first main draw, since she had gone out in Bath 10K qualifying the previous week.

Although she had scored just 1 point on her senior debut (Limoges 10K Q+16 in 2008), Laura got 50 points in her 2nd senior event (Shrewsbury 75K WC+SF)

First counting score. Thanks for the info.

Whoops, so it is!   Just goes to show how closely other posters looked at my previous doubles posts on this thread/how observant they were/how much they cared, or I'm sure someone would've said something by now... wink  The irony is that I, as a lover of Italian cuisine, managed to type "Palmigiano" rather than "parmigiano"! wink

My guess is that people see the results, look at how the Brits have done, note that they were playing seeds and move on (especially when there are a few results from the same round), i.e. that no previous comment doesn't mean people ignore the results completely. I only checked it out today because I saw "Roastella," was pretty sure that wasn't what I had tweeted when Jasmine beat her earlier and immediately assumed what I usually assume in such cases, i.e. that I must have got it wrong!

As for her partner, if she had "shaved" through against a Brit, I would have been tempted despite the L for R thing ... wink

Yes, SC, just because we may not make much comment on many of your doubles posts and / or aren't that bothered about spellings does not mean that many people don't read and very much appreciate your posts.

I know I do, and this from someone who freely admits that I have much more interest in singles than in doubles.

Keep up the good work !

Anna and Jasmine's SF has started.

Jasmine takes an early lead 3-1.....

But Jasmine having big problems with her serve 8 dfs so far and Anna wins 5 games in a row to take the first set 6-3.
