Well done Anna She does the double here, wins her 4th 10K singles title and her first since 2 years out injured - the perfect way to celebrate the first anniversary of her comeback (her first ITF back was this tournament last year)
This week's run should see her rise about 70 places to around 580 on Monday week. Still way off her career high (262), obviously, but if she continues to improve and has a bit less bad luck in draws next year, who's to say she can't get back there one day.
Will move her past Mel ( 43 points ) and level with Lucy ( 47 points ), currently GB no 12. Of course, at this point there is a chasm in the GB rankings, populated only by Emily, from the top 10. But Anna is well capable of bridging it. Hopefully she can remain fit and healthy and have a really good 2014.
In global terms, she should now move into the top 600, and again is capable of getting very much higher
Excellent result and good to see Anna back to the form she is capable of. Hopeful of a another big week at Manchester, there is no-one there to be frightened of, which should be a good catalyst for next year.
