Ashley's is indeed a bizarre match, but presumably bizarre to degrees from both players. Just more annoyingly bizarre if you are following the loser.

Just from the scores it actually might have been much more Daniell playing really well for 6 games then losing the plot just short of the winning post before getting it together again at the end.

Had a MP at 5-2 but needed to wait till 5-3 to get the next one, and took it.

6-0 6-7 6-3 to Gabb

So we have a qualifier as Rich plays Alex and decent places in the main draw if they can avoid the top seed.

Surprised Richard has not had a go at the doubles, but I see James and Brydan have both entered with their respective partners.

Good stuff, though for the loser - you leave with nothing !

Well, as Salmon pointed out yesterday, at least the loser gets GBP 300 from the LTA bonus scheme.

Impressive from Gabb, seems to be equipping himself well with the step up to challengers. really torn over who I want to win the FQR

Alex has still got plenty of points to defend this year, so purely on that basis, Alex.

If I had to chose one based on seeing the most brits play this week, I would go for Gabb purely because as number 1 and 2 seed are out, there is a good chance that Alex will be first LL if he loses.

But would like the best player to win.

Reister was ill and withdrew from today's final, so another LL spot may open up. Anyway, I hope that Reister will recover and play his first round match - someone's health matters more than some undeserving LL getting in.

Wardy and Wardy will begin at 1030 local time.

Klein will (presumably) play his first round match on Wednesday, so Klahn should be able to make it.

It's good to see Korea's finest return, even if it is in doubles. He's also the tournament director here, so I can understand why he is keen to make a mini comeback.

AWard won the first set by 6-1. Chen Ti is probably going to lose his FQR match, so he's going to take that LL spot.
