RE: Week 44 - Great Britain F23 ($10,000) - Edgbaston (hard)

Hi guys it's been a while since I have posted on here. Been on the road since July.
I'm not sure what's been said about me on this thread by Gary or by other people.
Not interested in any revenge or what ever was posted on a comment I read.

I hVe entered this as a one off tournament in my break before I head bAck to la.
It has been going great and that's the route I'm going down.

Looking forward to competing and having a good match tomorrow regardless.

Will also be good to see men's tennis for a change.
I will make a note that I put Gary and Marcus in touch with each other and I'm glad the bomb is getting the success he deserves.

So no pressure tomorrow. You have a free reign to go out and "let it rip."

Good to see you competing again, even if it is just a one off. May even get up early to follow the live scores - then again, I like my sleep.

Have fun.

I certainly do not bear any grudges against Andrew ( fitzy ) in was not his fault that it did not work out that really was in my opinion some one at the LTA throwing a spanner in the works . It's all about finding the right path and it certainly helped Marcus but also  andrew appears to be finding his path and opening up an interesting career in the US . It's unlikely that I would have clicked with any player like I have with Marcus .  I wish Andrew  the best of luck with his career . I have known Lewis a long time because he is our Kent county no1 .

I am sure it will be an exciting match & expect it to be closely contested .

Thanks for letting us know your plans Fitzy, good luck for this week and beyond. Don't be a stranger on here, we promise to still love you even if you aren't entertaining us with wild tales of life on the tour

Fair point, Bob.

It was great to see Fitzy's post. I was thrilled that he is focusing on his coaching career and, therefore presumably, he's enjoying it and quite good at it.

I think he fell on his feet at Wimbledon, and largely thanks to his own initiative and being a nice guy, which is why it's wonderful to see just rewards.

Completely irrelevant comment but I have a son about the same age and, if it were my son (and he actually wanted my input!), I'd say 'go for the coaching career, no question, you've got a great opportunity'.

Agreed. But I thinkit may go even further back than Wimbledon.  He was hitting at the O2 last year as well and that may have started the thought process. I wonder if he will be hitting at the O2 again this year. Nice work if you can get it.

Edit

Perhaps you meant the link with Sloane started at Wimbleon. In which case you would be entirely correct of course.

Josh G saves 3 more MPs and is hanging in there. Needs to break now though at 3-5*

Score for Jonny v Sam seems to have stuck. Sam broke in the first game but is 30-40 in the second. Not sure if it is an MTO or technical issues.

I'm going for techincal issues as Evan v Marzi has also stuck at 15-40 with Evan serving for the match.

Could it have picked a worse moment to get stuck ?

And Gary - if you are reading this and still in Edgbaston, we have scored board freeze on Jonny v Sam so any updates would be appreciated.

Edit

No need now thanks. Scoreboard has finally caught up.

Bomb v president

Rob carter off to a storming start 3-1 and break up . Playing like a top 400

Player . Marcus has had to step it up and now Marcus also looks like a top 400 player Again .

Marcus wins tie break 3rd set . Experience giving in the tie break was the main difference .

Rob carter is playing like a player ranked 400-500 places higher in the ATP rankings

I think Rob would benefit if he extended his season by a few more weeks. He hasn't played much this year, so tiredness shouldn't be an issue.

Also, I love the fact that we can all get along with each other, but STILL smash the post records.

Good luck this week Fitzy, and with your burgeoning coaching career. Glad to see that things are working out for you.

Tom's match is due on next as Oli v JWH has just finished. Nicolas R's match should have been played unless there was a retirement/walkover.

Some of the doubles matches are on previously non used courts, so could be 6 matches at once now.

Any sign of Tom F and Liam's match ?

Rob Carter and Adam TB win their doubles against the scottish Strachan/Byce duo

edit: crossed with your post. Seems reasonable conclusion. Especially given how many of their gizmos seem to have broken down today.

First set Fitzy 6-3

I have to confess to a certain amount of split loyalties here. I have been a Fitzy fan since I joined the board here and found him posting regularly about his tennis and his struggles etc. It would be fantastic to see him have a really good week and he really deserves to have that "winning feeling" again, especially if it is to be for the last time. Although it wouldn't surprise me to see him doing a Josh G and turning up at an occasional futures next year when he is "on leave".

But given his statement that he will be pursuing his coaching career, it would also be good to see the points this week go to an "active" GB player. So whilst I will be cheering Fitzy on, I won't be disppointed if Lewis takes the points on offer.
