Michael is 3-3* in the 1st set against Kalovelonis, who has won 12/13 points on serve. Michael didn't face a break point in his first 3 service games either but the Greek has won 8 points on Michael's serve.
Also, Dan's R2 opponent has just been decided:
L16: (1) Dan Cox WR 245 v Laurent Malouli (FRA) WR 741 (CH 571 in Apr)
So, is Dan going to work his way through the whole French contingent ? (A lot of them other there this week . . .)
Malouli is a far more established player, about 26 I think, but one of the many who is grinding his way upwards and getting better with age. He beat James M a couple of times this year and lost to Oli last autumn in Doha. Nothing amazing.
If Dan has now played himself in, I think Laurent should be a relatively standard Dan Cox win . . . (yeah, right, like the 'easy victory' last time . .. )
dan took the first set easily, like yesterday. and is now not doing so well in the second, like yesterday. so time to stop the rot and get back on track . . . no third set TBs like yesterday . . .
Dan loses 6-4 in the third. I think he used up his Houdini card yesterday, can't rely on doing it twice. Pretty poor result (I can't believe that Malouli suddenly played an amazing match) but these things happen, hardly the end of the world.
Definitely not (for the men, anyway) - 6 of the GB top 8 men played this week, Evo went out a round before he was seeded to and the other 5 all went out at least two rounds before they were seeded to

I tweeted to this effect too (for the sake of balance, I feel a need to tweet the odd negative stat like that in among finding as much positive stuff as I can) and thought to myself, Neil Harman (with his unerring nose for sniffing out anything negative about British tennis) will probably retweet this.
I thought I was joking ...
Seriously, he's done this plenty of times before - anyone following him but not me must think I'm the most negative person about British tennis there is
