RE: Week 43 - ATP 500 Series: Valencia Open - Valencia, Spain (indoor hard) - doubles

The boys book themselves a place in yet another semi-final with a win at a canter (only one break point against them - in the final game!) :

QF:  Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 61 (32+29) defeated Jarkko Nieminen & Dmitry Tursunov (FIN/RUS) CR 261 (116+145) by 1 & 3 smile

Whoops, didn't know about those.  Logged on early in the second set & was going by their 0% BP conversion rate.  Must've missed the BP count that flashes up on bet365 from time to time.

They are now only 25 points behind 9th placed Mirnyi / Tecau (who are already out this week) and 285 points behind the Poles (yet to play their QF today), with Dom & Treat the highest-placed team behind them who are still standing this week

Delighted for Messrs Murray and Peers, who are clearly very much in form. At the same time, as SC pointed out, the scheduling was somewhat unfair to Nieminen and Tursunov. The scheduling of the Lopez (Isner/Peya/Soares) match doesn't do its winner any favours, either, as they'll then have a very late finish ... and have to play the next day.

Much as I'd like to claim the credit for that, Spectator, while I noticed the unfair scheduling when I looked at today's OoP yesterday, I forbore to pass comment on it.  It was actually you yourself who drew attention to it on here. wink

It looked briefly as though Isner & López might do Jamie & John a favour, but 'twasn't to be.  The second seeds prevailed by 10-5 in the MTB:

SF:  Jamie Murray & John Peers (AUS) CR 61 (32+29) vs (2) Alexander Peya & Bruno Soares (AUT/BRA) CR 7 (4+3)  bleh
