I was quite impressed with Maverick's win, too, but Stephane Robert has withdrawn from Traralgon, and that means something was probably amiss...

Good to see Wardy get the win, hopefully the start of a good run here.

So you don't think that it's just that Robert's a conformist, and Mavericks are his Bane? (Sorry)

Not surprised by Calvin's result, I'm afraid.

Whittington is promising, but he is more of a Futures player right now, so Dino should have too much for him. The other seed in his quarter, Sugita, lost his first round match today, so this is a fantastic opportunity to get to the semifinals.

James first up and should be streamed. The draw is opening up.

Tuned in to the live stream with Wardy 5-3 up. Wish I hadn't as he lost the next 4 games and the first set 7-5

To be honest, he didn't look like winning any of them.

James lost the first set 7-5. Not quite sure how. He started like a house on fire and serving was excellent and served for the set at 5-4, but the serve went a bit inconsistent and he went passive.

SO pleased to see James get a couple of good wins.

And isn't it nice that a couple of our 'top tier' players - James and Heather - are suddenly giving us something to be happy about. On an individual basis, we've had nothing since the US Open from any of them, really, and we've missed it!

And, a propos of nothing, interesting to see another top 10 junior who has obviously struggled up till now, for whatever reason, to make it in seniors (age 20 and CH 419)

That's a lot more like it. I obviously tuned in earlier at just the wrong time. James has picked his game up now and levels the match at 1 set all.
