RE: Week 43 - ITF ($100K) - Poitiers, France - Indoor Hard

Delighted for Ms Watson. And the facts that made the match-up so potentially problematic must make the victory doubly sweet. Well done.

You know what, I sort of felt something positive might happen this week. Reading between the lines, she seemed in a happy place this week, playing 'where's watty games' etc., maybe there was a sense that it couldn't get any worse, so just have fun and enjoy it again. The British girls seem very much in good form off the court this week.

My theory is that it's because she's got her mum with her and Heather's mum been at the laundromat, doing all Hev's laundry.
That's enough to put anyone in a good mood . . . :)
Well done Mum - it's the little things that count !

JoKo about to start on live stream.

Edit: Actualy they had already start. Paszek must have had an injury time out at 2-1 because JoKo was practicing serves when I switched the stream on.

JoKo held after a very long game for 3-1*.

Very good tennis from both girls in the early stages.

3-1* to JoKo

Misses three chances for a double break

*3-2

Phew, from 40-15 to break point down but eventually holds

4-2*

Jo really didn't do enough on those 4 break points, but is more aggressive on the 5th and gets the error.

So hard to call this one, momentum is swinging all over the shop

That game was dreadful. All the hard work undone, break handed back 4-4*

Hev has lost the second set 6-4. Time for another fightback.

PS good to see all the Brits hanging around together in Poitiers and seeming to be having fun. Must lift spirits, probably quite lonely for Hev on her own or just with Laura most weeks.

Alison Riske is a very under rated player. i saw here several times at Birmingham and her court coverage is excellent and she has a very good doublehanded backhand.

This is a tough match.

Shame Joko didn't manage one of those double-break points (she had 3 or 4 ?) but still playing very well.

Very poor from Jo from 30-0 up at *5-4, saves one break point but a good drop brings up a second

5-5*

Should have had that set

Jo drops the first set 7-5 :(

Had it right there, very close match between these two. Just played 3 very poor points from 30-0 to give Paszek an opportunity to break back.

Needs to regroup quickly, her forehand was starting to break down quite badly so hope she can get that to click again.

Well, that was a set wasted . . . she should have had that set wrapped up 15 minutes ago
