RE: Week 42 - Great Britain F21 ($10,000) - Loughborough (Hard)

Great result for Myles.

Troubleshooter, condolences to Marcus if you manage to speak to him like you did when he was in Kuwait. Maybe he can explain the scoring like overrule or something ?

Last week's champs Josh & Harry lost to the Griekspoors too

Good news. There's no way Josh was winning both singles and doubles this week, so now he can concentrate on singles.

Surprised Harry Meehan hasn't made more of an impression in both singles and doubles in his career so far. Has a very good serve (16 aces so far today) which lets him have a few free swings when returning. Will be interesting, now under the wing of Goodall, to see how far he can progress in the next few years. Top 750 by end of 2014? He's still very young

I imagine this is the kind of result that made Josh feel it was time to give up:

L16:  (5) Joris de Loore (BEL) WR 418 defeated Josh Goodall WR 520 by 6-4 7-6(5) cry

Not a Brit left standing in the top half of the draw! disbelief

I can see similar problems in the next two weeks where foreigners start picking up big points at Tipton and Edgbaston. These players are staying on and our boys seem to be dropping out or stepping up to challengers

Hold on a minute: last week's final was Goodall vs Hewitt. And this week, the GB contingent was further boosted by top 25 table stalwarts Willis, Pauffley and Burton. The fact is that Ash pulled out ill this week. And Willis, Goodall, Pauffley, Farqhuarson, Burton & Marsalek were beaten when they would all have expected to win or at least would have felt they had a realistic opportunity to win. I can still see Mr Rice haveing a shot at winning this week (fingers crossed) - and IMO Hewitt vs Goodall and Willis vs Rice were in some ways the most likely SFs before the week started......our players just haven't played well this week!

I welcome the step up to Challengers, like yourself, but look at the next 2 weeks as opportunities for players outside the top 25 table to really make a mark, whether or not there are half decent foreigners in the field.......and should our boys really be fearing the likes of the mighty Barry, de Loore and Grigelis?

Looks like Ash has pulled out going by the ITF scores

Well spotted Josh. Lord, what with Ash and Liam, it's not been a good day. Hope he's OK.

Really opens up the top half, now, as well as the bottom half. There's some nice semi-final points going begging.
