Bugger!  Grigelis snaffles the decider by 6-3 &, as I feared, lifts the title. cry

Well, he (Grigelis) was instrumental in inflicting one of our most embarrassing Davis Cup defeats not that long ago when he beat Evo in 5 in the 5th rubber in Vilnius and seems to have been playing closer to his top 200 best than his current ranking this week, so Dave got closer than many of us might have dared to expect

Not really, but he does have a career high of 183 from July last year, so strictly speaking, he's Challenger/lower ATP level. hmm  In addition, the GB Davis Cup team has reason not to remember him to fondly:  he defeated Dan Evans in  a tense five-setter to give Lithuania an unexpected victory by three rubbers to two in a first round match in 2010. furious

David still picked up a new ATP points PB and was good prep for i think a challenger next week ?

Opening up different thread with reference to our Davis cup tie v USA what would we have to do to stay in the top group if we failed  to defeat the USA ?

Yes, there's a separate Davis Cup thread for more detailed discussions, but the essential answer if we lost to the USA is we'd then have to win a World Group play-off again ( like vs Croatia this year ) to get back into the World Group for 2015.

Fairly good week for Dave. When these points are added, he'll be around the 355 mark in the rankings, so that'll come handy in the Challenger qualies.

And for what it's worth, here's how we did this week. At the end of the season, I'll host a glitzy ceremony and present the trophy to Coup Droit, the thread starter.

Great Britain F21 (Loughborough) - 2013 : 385
Sweden F2 (Falun) - 2008 : 278
Great Britain F4 (Bath) - 2009 : 278
Great Britain F11 (Newcastle) - 2013 : 275
Great Britain F7 (Bath) - 2013 : 270
Sweden F5 (Falun) - 2007 : 268
Israel F5 (Herzlia) - 2012 : 258
Great Britain F1 (Glasgow) - 2009 : 251
Kuwait F3 (Meshref) - 2013 : 245
Great Britain F12 (Wrexham) - 2008 : 241
Kuwait F2 (Meshref) - 2013 : 227

So that'll be a post about Tipton in the Loughborough thread. Do try harder.
