A1, I'm going to pose a fairly uncomfortable question, but I've been thinking about it for a while. Feel free to ignore it if you want.

Willis is ranked inside the top 350 now and Burton is a good distance away. It's still fine, they can target the same 10Ks, where Marcus will be one of the top seeds and Lewis will get in directly. But very soon, Marcus will have to move on to Challenger qualifiers and I think it'll be ideal for Lewis's singles career that he stays back in Futures for another year, because he's not ready for Challenger qualies. But if that happens, playing doubles together will be a problem, so how are you going to tackle this issue?

You're not the only one who has been wondering about this. Given that Dave and Sean appear to be facing exactly the same situation as Marcus and Lewis, there is an obvious solution that would keep all four of them in all-GB pairs, with Marcus and Dave playing Challengers and Lewis and Sean continuing with Futures for a bit longer and potentially dominating in doubles at that level.

Of course, that's easy to suggest - whether it is actually a realistic option (or even whether the players feel that there is a problem that needs to be solved in the first place) is just about impossible for an outsider to know. I have no idea how well the four of them get on or whether the swapped pairs would complement each other anywhere near as well as the existing pairs. However, if it did work out, it could be a very amicable way to find a solution that might be good for all of them in both singles and doubles.

Steven that is a really good suggestion thinkong about that could work Marcus and dave playing doubles think it worth a try at the very least. If you don't give it a go you will never know.

Think it's pretty obvious that Troubleshooter & A1 are one in the same, given that Gary has slipped up a few times & replied as 'Gary Lewis' while logged in as Troubleshooter.

With that in mind, look at Troubleshooters 1st response to the Salmon's question of doubles partnership switching!  It seems to me that Gary initially thought it was a pretty good idea... that is, until he put it to Marcus & Lewis, and then after they sent him on his way, he started with the 'LMAO' nonsense.

I can assure you my friend that Troubleshooter is not A1, I am willing to bet you so if you want to put your money were your mouth is I am game for that, because if you keep making that remark Coup Droit I will sue you for deprivation and slander do i make myself clear I am a normal guy giving my opinion what I see fit. So please stop bringing my name into disrepute.

Excuse me Troubleshooter but if you re-read all the old posts correctly you will see that I have never once made any suggestion that you are the same as A1 or Gary. In fact, I have never once voiced any opinion about it.

It was somebody else - see previous page. And kindly check first in future before accusing people.

A lot of breaks in this match, Dave had 15-40 then but, sadly couldn't add another.  One set all.

"Deprivation". Classic.

Since we're all suing each other these days for very little, is it also a crime to be galactically stupid.

Idle threats on a public forum promoting free speech to an anonymous poster who has an unblemished record of being constructive, objective, informative, amusing and knowledgable. And has made a completely reasonable comment once again. Great stuff.

If you aren't A1, you just happen to be demonstrating the same character traits as A1, the same thin-skinned demeanour as A1, the same opinions as A1, the same command of grammar and spelling as A1, the same access to these players as A1, the same aggressive bullying tone as A1 and the same one-way traffic communication approach.

Awful. Unnecessary. Rude.

Oh, for God's sake! furious  I obviously can't close this thread, but if you don't make more of an effort to confine your posts to comments on tennis matters, A1, I'll start deleting 'em, thereby reducing the total!  Grow up & act your age, whatever that may be, & not your bloody shoe size!

Dave looks as though he's hit the 'go' button at last. 5-2*

Rob and George having a real tussle - Rob was 4-2 up. George now 5*-4 and serving for the set.

PS Korriban, all this talk of cats, how is the little fellow ? Is he/she fully better ?

Ha, Ha, Shhh, I did think about you when I wrote that ( obviously not about you LOL ), but didn't expect quite such a quick response from yourself.

Anyway more QUIET ( don't think we've any members called that ) would be appreciated from Gary, although genuine tennis insights are welcome, such as a response to the queries ( genuine, without malice ) as to what may have gone wrong for Marcus and Lewis this week.

It was difficult to adjust from outdoor to indoors - Just a bad week with hindsight should of stayed outdoors

Marcus does'nt  like poorly lit indoor courts and Lewis was distracted by the abundance of very plain female students

Dave Rice closes out the match 6-3 in the third so it's an all Brit bottom half on the draw and a guaranteed British finalist.

(NB for the anglo-irish contingent, Sam Barry's made the semis in the top half)

Maybe I should start a separate thread for this, but I get the impression the people who need to see this are camped out on this thread, so here goes ...

For years, this forum has been a dream to moderate (thank you to everyone concerned) but I (and I imagine the other mods too) have no intention of letting it degenerate without taking some action.

Just to be clear then:

a) Any more threats (direct or implied) of physical violence against another member of the forum will result in an instant ban, whoever they come from.

b) The name-calling needs to stop too - disagreeing with people is fine (obviously) as is gentle humour at each other's expense, but calling someone an imbecile (or worse) because you don't agree with them is not on, even if you think that's what they are.

c) Constructive criticism of players is ok too (fortunately we usually have people providing some balance - I'd be a lot more concerned if all the comments about any given player went one way) but snide comments and comments with thinly-veiled personal agendas are not.

I hope that's clear. Given that hardly any of the posters on here are schoolkids (in fact, any schoolkids we have had on here have tended to be among the more mature posters!) I shouldn't really have to say it, should I ...

P.S. There's also a difference behind having a gentle dig at the colour of tracksuits in Loughborough and having a general go at the female population there. The latter is not appropriate in general and especially not on a tennis forum. However, the fact that the person who wrote the comment then felt the need to quote it and "LOL" at it himself because nobody else did cracked me up so much that I just can't bring myself to zap it biggrindisbelief

Calling me an imbecile out of order -crazy yes that's fair but with 2 degrees & an IQ of 137 I am

hardly an imbecile

Let me tell you a story, my brother has got a first degree in history from Cambridge. That makes him an intellectual.

A couple of weeks ago he was flying with a friend (who is currently studying towards a pHd in physics) to Poland. They turned up 3 hours early for their flight at Stansted airport. Unfortunately however their flight was from Luton. - that makes him an imbecile.

Anyway I do apologise for calling you a nasty name. And please receive this comment as a friendly ditty as opposed to an invitation for internet warfare. I simply wanted to illustrate that you could be the mensa chess champion, but still be a fool.

(might I add not knowing you personally that I cannot pass genuine comment on whether or not you are the aforementioned)
