RE: Week 42 - ATP 250 Series: Kremlin Cup, Moscow, Russia (Hard) - doubles

Baluda rather gifts the Skupski bros another break, and Ken serves out to love.

6-3

Kravchuk has such a nice, easy, flowing service motion. Very effective.

6-3 *2-3, not much in the way of return points this set.

Some great pay from the Russians to break Neal in 12th game of the set to take the set 7-5.

MTB.

3-3 at the change of ends. 3 unreturned serves but Ken missed two volleys at the net where they could have won the point.

Neal smack a return at Baluda and he nets for the first mini break. *5-4.

Massive double fault from Baluda, he's been the weakest on court imo.

*8-5

Never in doubt...  Nip & tuck all the way, but the right result (from our point of view) in the end!  I hereby apologise profusely & wholeheartedly for having had the temerity to doubt the boys' resilience yesterday!   Well done to both of them.

SF:  Ken Skupski & Neal Skupski CR 198 defeated (WC) Victor Baluda & Konstantin Kravchuk (RUS/RUS) CR 381 by 6-3 5-7 [10-7]  biggrin

Stunning return winner down the line from Neal to book his place in the top 100, and their place in the final.

6-3 5-7 [10-7]

I'd forgotten it was their 1st ATP event - let's hope they can keep the 100% record on the main tour going for another day!

That really was a stunning return form Neal on match point - making the top 100 in some style!

I'm thrilled for them! biggrinbiggrinbiggrin

But there's one more match to come - and they CAN do it. To be honest, compared to how I've seen them play, this wasn't a vintage performance, but it is a testament to how professional they look that it was still enough to get the win. Come on boys!
