On Friday morning at 6.30am, I was awakened by a hooded man with a scarf across his face on my bedpoking a knife at me.
I was quickly escorted downstairs where my housemate was being held at knifepoint by another man.
We were both sat down in the living room with the knife continuing to be pointed at us while the man who awoke me went upstairs to help himself to our possessions.
Unfortunately, the two gentlemen chose the wrong house. My friend and I simutaneously attacked the man holding us at knifepoint and after an extensive struggle including a stab wound to my friend, we expelled the intruders and managed to phone the police. I have some rather painful scratches, bumps, bruises and two black eyes from a boot to the face from one of our friendly visitors, but I am glad to report they were sent packing with no more than £30 cash.
The police informed us that we were the second house to be targeted that night and the previous house had a very young infant held at knifepoint. Thanks to our fightback, three key peices of evidence were dropped, enough to identify one of them and along with our statements enough for a very strong case.
Just thought I'd share a rather traumatic event in my life with my forum friends

That sounds very traumatic indeed - and probably one of many people's biggest nightmares.
Possibly slightly mad to have a go but well done for doing so - the fact that someone was brave enough to stand up to them might well do more than anything else to make them think twice before they pull a stunt like that again.
I hope both you and your mate are recovering ok.

Sweet Lord, John, what is happening ? So sorry to hear about your experience - do hope you're both OK. You must be extremely shook up, not to mention the actual physical injuries - I would imagine that it'll 'haunt' you for quite a bit, as well. Well done, though.
Best regards to you and your friend. Take it easy.
I'm physically OK I guess, except for general all body soreness from being dragged around the garden and some rather guesome looking painful long scratches, but yeah. I didn't sleep a wink last night.

Crazy thing is we both start work at 7.30, if they waited an hour we'd have been out of the house and they had free reign. Why on earth they chose to do it the way they did god only knows.

What a nightmare. I hope you both get over it soon. I have never been burgled with force, but I have been burgled - and that alone was traumatic, the thought of strange hands going through all your belongings.
Wow. I was burgled when I wasn't at home and that was traumatic enough. It is impossible to imagine what you must have gone through.
None of us know how we would react in that situation until it actually happens, but I am not sure I would have had the guts to react as you did. It is always a tough judgement call and I salute you and your housemate for fighting back. I really hope the evidence left behind puts the b******s behind bars.
Most importantly, you have come through it (relatively) unscathed and at the end of the day, that is all that really matters.

Shouldda seen his face lol. Anyway, thanks for the comments guys. We will be fine, my back has a large thick graze/scratch down the full length of it which makes it very painful to move/bend/sit/lie or any other action or inaction but apart from that it's more mental than physical.
Be safe everyone

You're brave, I'd never be able to muster the courage to attack armed people, I'm sure of that. And of course, we're all glad that no lasting harm has been done.
Not brave imo, we were adrenaline fuelled and angry at the invasion of our property and belongings. Although the outcome of our actions is that it appears justice will be had for numerous other innocent people, the motives were purely personal and instinctive, so I don't see it as brave. Thank you though.

It's pretty clear that you were brave, but interesting that you put it that way. I'm not brave at all (not physically brave, anyway) but I can imagine being so angry in that situation that I would take any chance to do something about it.
What amazes me most is that you and your mate both had the same idea, managed to communicate it to each other in some way and managed to co-ordinate your fightback enough to turn a horribly dangerous situation into what sounds like a very good outcome.
