Tom was always up against it, but has had a week to remember.
The other Tom looked to be grinding his way back into his match but the South African dude was just too strong.
Ash had way too much for his Indian opponent, but was a bit up and down.
Didn't catch any of Josh/Rob's match, but this Goodall bloke is striking a fine ball this week, so Rob goes away again with another week of progress.
There are a number of people / things to blame for the epic but looking ultimately failed attempt to get 20 into the top 500.
Jamie Baker, for being so inconsiderate to retire with just 65 points for the year, Sloane Stephens, Oli's hernias, players losing tennis matches, and potentially Boggo not playing tennis matches.
Boggo, Boggo, where fore art thou Boggo.
Unfortunately this week Boggo dropped to the lowest singles ranking position he has held since mid 2003.
Looks like Josh G is pretty much favourite to win.
He was certainly playing very well at Roehampton.
I know it's not all about hitting hard but there's a certain noise that some of the best players make when they hit a ball - a real crack that echoes around the complexe - like a pistol shot. All about acceleration at the key moment and timing.
And there were only four guys at Roehampton who did it : Josh G., Bloomers, JWH and Rob Carter. (with the jury out on Marcus because he only played a few shots before Jonny retired).
Have to add that I really like the grafters too - enormous respect, love to watch it - and all the other variants on a theme - but that crackshot noise is a joy . . . .
