Nailbiter after nailbiter. Now 7-6 in tiebreaker. By the way, does anyone have a view on what makes Marcelo Melo like kryptonite for the Bryan Brothers?
Murray and Peers seem to be getting better and better with every week. Something must have really gelled with this partnership, plus as Indy says the ability to practice together, iron out specific weaknesses and develop a special telepathy comes ONLY from being a REGULAR partner.
What's also noticeable is that the gap between the very best pairs in doubles has reduced dramatically. There are somewhere between 10 and 20 pairings who are very competitive indeed, and who on a good day can beat or at least run close the very best players including the Bryans. The scores in these matches (across these 10-20 pairings) are invariable always close, lots of 7-5s, TBs and MTBs. Some partnerships go on decent runs of "form" (like Murray/Peers at the moment), but it's very hard to predict the outcome of a match with certainty, let alone a tournament. It's fun!
As has been said before, who would ever have imagined that having a good REGULAR partner could so transform Jamie's fortunes ?!
This has been mentioned a few times (and of course it is true), was just wondering does anyone know anything about his other partnerships and why they didn't work out. (I don't). Was he unnecessarily fickle (that's kinda the impression I get from comments etc)? Did he have a choice? Was he just looking for the right partner and none of the others were the right fit? Thanks
