In a way, a rubbish draw, particularly since the winners are likely to get the top seeds in R2.

However, it could be argued that it is a very good draw, because it guarantees at least 70 WTA points for one of the GB pairs, when it's more than likely neither of them would have been favs to win their R1 match had the draw worked out differently.

Ouch, Sam has had 2 attempts to serve it out but some DFs and loose errors mean its back on serve.

Sam started like a house on fire, but her serve is just starting to let her down and she is making lots of UEs

Disappointing tie breaker. Sam has all the attributes to go top 100 if she can find the consistency. She is a bit hit and miss today.

Suprisingly for a good doubles player, Sam isn't that comfortable/ruthless around the net.

Sam breaks after a shocking drop shot from Honcova.

Nice stuff in general - far better from Sam than the matches she played in the UK.
