Wardy has now made it into Valencia qualies. I don't know if he'll be able to make it (or if he even wants to make it) before the draw is made, but you get reasonably good money even if you lose in the first round, so it looks like a good idea to me.
Evo didn't enter, which is another lost opportunity. He didn't play a single major event after the USO...
Edit: I don't think you need to be physically present for the draw where there is an entry list, right? They put you in automatically and fine you if you don't turn up.

does anyone have an idea about what's going on with Edmund? very late withdrawals suggest he's almost fit, but then again he keeps on doing it, its been three weeks since he was thumped in hungry! hope for his sake its not too serious
It's probably fairly safe to assume that he has a niggle that's not going away, and it wouldn't be the worst idea to call it curtains for the season, take some rest, head somewhere warm for training and then try to play some Tour events in the first two weeks of 2014.
I think it's just that the media doesn't care too much about Kyle (yet) and hasn't noticed his absence. His family would probably happily tell them what's wrong if they are contacted, but they can hardly call a presser for something like this! Twitter is honestly the best thing to have happened to tennis in a while, because that's the only link that we have with the lower ranked players. Of course, every tennis player may not Tweet about an injury, but it still plugs in so many holes.

Something is a bit weird.
I can understand that they (Kyle/family/team) don't want to be too public about it - because then forums like this would be all over it!
But in other ways it would be a lot easier if people knew and it would prevent idle speculation (I heard someone say 'maybe he just doesn't like tennis any more' today!), which is going to happen because it's so contrary to what Kyle's stated intentions had been and so there must be a reason.

As I think I have mentioned elsewhere, the plan was / is to spend a couple of weeks at the NTC in Roehampton and then head off to Miami to train with Andy Murray for 3 weeks during the off season. Given Andy's recent injury problems and what seems ever more likely to be an injury for Kyle, these plans may have to change.
And whilst we may all want to know the reasons behind his current absence, I just think it is very typical of Kyle, his team and his family, to simply get on with the job (whether that is playing tennis, training or recovering from injury) in a quiet and understated way without courting publicity. Frustrating for us it may be, but in my opinion, it is the correct way to go.
I agree with Salmon that Twitter has been fantastic for tennis fans (especially those like us who are looking for info you won't find covered in the media) and probably for tennis players' families too, some of whom may have had virtually no contact with their tennis-playing kids while they were on tour.
But equally, much as we appreciate players being open with us, it's got to be up to the players themselves - it's no surprise given Kyle's very professional, quiet approach that he and his team prefer to deal with whatever it is (I too would guess it's an injury niggle they don't want to risk - that seems infinitely more likely than him not liking tennis any more!) without telling the world more than they have to. I'd certainly trust them to know what they're doing
