With Gonzalez/Lipsky having gone out in the first round this past week ... and facing a mighty GB team this week ... could a second alternates position be a possibility for Murray and Peers? Even if not, their accmplishments are worth celebrating.

I may well be misconstruing the meaning of your second paragraph, but if you look at my Shanghai doubles thread, I think you'll find that Messrs Murray & Peers made it into the draw by right on the basis of their combined ranking. They've been drawn to play Albert Montañés & Tommy Robredo in the first round.
Indiana is correct (though given my earlier postings on this week's entries thread, I can see where one might have miscontrued the comment). More on Shanghai thread. Glad to be seconded!
