Klahn v. Krygios is an entertaining match. They are going into the third set - Krygios had a bad lapse of concentration. He has a monster forehand! My money is on BK though - he is more consistant.
For a moment, I thought Calvin was having a good week and somehow I hadn't noticed ...
Nick won through in the end. Very good effort indeed, especially as he hs been stellar in Australia but not at all elsewhere - so this is a breakthrough in a way. That serve is a real bomb - if he adds even more pace, spin and accuracy to it (he's only 18) he will be VERY hard to break.....and he has a decent game off the ground too.....touch of the Del Potros about his style.
Jenkins is a break up in the final set against Ebden. I'm sure if he wins someone will say "that puts Dan's loss into a different perspective". I would have to agree that Jenkins is better than his ranking for all the reasons discussed previously, but he is not even close to Dan's class, and "got lucky" yesterday by benefitting from an UE-fest from Dan (due IMO to over-playing). I don't agree with one poster than he could be top 100 one day.
Sorry if I raised your hopes re BK!! I was impressed with Krygios, with out doubt he was the more talented of the two and hits a much bigger ball. He gave away far too many points through not engaging his brain - he lost his serve horribly twice in succession at the start of the 2nd, and double faulted twice in succession at match point then lost his serve to let Klahn take the match to a TB.
I hope Dan is feeling better, it is far more fun to watch when there is some national interest
