Given that Jathan is one of the very few Brits this week who'll be favourite to win their R1 singles match, I doubt he'd swap a better doubles draw for a worse singles one.

It really is disturbing the way so many Brits struggle overseas. If Jathan was playing an unranked opponent on British soil I would expect a comfortable win.

Is that really true do you think ? Or do the overseas collapses just strike us more ? Does it only apply to the lower ranked players ?
I'd been thinking exactly the opposite about the women - how the last two 25ks were pretty disappointing, for instance, and the UK players under-performed but had done very well overseas.
It'll be interesting to see how the British men in Israel perform - some of our best '500-1500 players'.
I would imagine that players in just about all countries perform on average better at home. I have no idea whether British players are significantly different from other nationalities in that regard.
