and it's another doubles title for our duo - 6-2 6-2. Well done to both. More 'silverware' for the cupboard, points for the doubles race and cheques to keep the wolf from the door.
I think Marcus and Lewis are certainly becoming kings of the doubles futures world.
Thanks for listing all these titles ( quick Steven, check none have been missed from the comprehensive titles list in the forum stats section LOL ). Anyway, many of us were pretty well aware of the recent very good record, admittedly with some help of being banged over the head about it.
What is going to be interesting is how they deal with the undoubted step up to challengers. They look extremely promising, but if is difficult ( well for me anyway ) to really judge just from futures.
There is also then the possibility of the kind of dilemmas that Rice and Thornley have faced. Marcus looks as if he has the ability to quite soon be competitive at challenger level in singles, but Lewis frankly doesn't at the moment.
So how do they schedule things ? Does Lewis effectively become a doubles player, giving challenger singles qualifying a go at times ? Do they even necessarily stick together ?
Decisions, decisions, maybe not for now, but down the road...
We don't know until they hit the challenger circuit - same for Marcus with singles. It's great they're getting the funding from Mr Lewis that's allowed them to do well in the futures - sets a great platform for the future, but they really need to step up to the next level now. Well done them for getting ready for the next step!
Well done Lewis and Marcus! - you'll have to put some more shelves up for all these trophies
Yes Your right they will need more than shelves when they too lads have finished cleaning up.
Marcus has won 19 of his last 20 doubles matches!
Won in Wrexham With Coupland.
Won In Sheffield With Lewis.
Won In Roehampton With Lewis.
Won In Kuwait F1 With Lewis.
Lost In Final Kuwait F2 With Lewis.
Won In Kuwait F3 With Lewis.
5 Doubles Titles In 6 Weeks is good going.
So thats 6 doubles titles this year has anybody won more than him this year.
Lewis has won 16 of his last 17 doubles matches
Won In Sheffield With Lewis.
Won In Roehampton With Lewis.
Won In Kuwait F1 With Lewis.
Lost In Final Kuwait F2 With Lewis.
Won In Kuwait F3 With Lewis.
4 doubles titles in 5 weeks.
They are still both young and learning, Can you see these as a double pairing that will win more titles as they both mature and learn. Its not a bad year so far for both of them. Things can only get better. If the LTA gave them a few hours each week with one of their top coaches they would become ever better.
What do you think !!
I imagine Gary's got a job offer in the post to you (sorry, couldn't resist ) but in the interests of accuracy, Lewis has won 6 doubles titles this year too, and not all with himself (don't worry, many of us have made those copy, paste, forget to change something errors, in some cases - er, me - more than a few times ):
- Wirral with Neal Skupski - Bath with Dan Evans - the 4 you mentioned with Marcus
That means Marcus and Lewis share =2nd place in doubles titles won by Brits this year with Ken Skupski (though 4 of his wins were Challenger titles) but the GB leader for ATP-ranked doubles titles won this year is Neal Skupski with 9, made up of 4 Challengers and 5 Futures. After them come JJWH and Richard Gabb with 5 each.

Ha Ha, shows how much notice I'd actually taken of the list. I''m happy for them, but it gets sooo repetitive from Gary and his Welsh admirer that it becomes a booooor. And normally stats and lists about tennis interest me.
And British success shouldn't be a bore, it should enthuse.
