Who would be willing to contribute £10 to a player performance fund a large club with 500 members could eg generate £5000 for their no1 player .

I know that I could help more players but i am now over budget and a queue of deserving cases not just in tennis .wealthy tennis clubs need  to start putting their hands in their often very deep pockets and support the players that loyally turn our for their clubs counties .

I once offered at an AGM of a huge Kent club that had Recieved a colossal amount of funding to match £1 for every £1 the club put into a performance fund not one person of 50+ present supported the proposal . At the time the club had 2 ATP ranked players the President did not even know who they were !!!
It appears that the middle classes do not like putting their hands in their pockets !

Whether it is the most appropriate or necessary route to go down may be arguable. But I would personally have no real issue in contributing if such a fund seriously existed. So I have voted "yes".

Only if the players promise to return it in case they make it to the top 100. With interest.

Not necessarily top 100, but a player reaching a certain dollar value in prize money should not be considered for any funding other than Davis Cup/Fed Cup appearances.

No thanks, I already pay £18 for an hour on an indoor court, think that's quite enough of my money going to the LTA when I'm struggling to feed myself and pay the bills!

Very good point. If we are being asked to give over our hard earned, what if one of the players who benefits goes on to win a Slam, and makes 10s of millions in prize money. Will we all be getting £50 each back a year?

A1, and THIS is my problem with Roger Draper (see other thread). No one can expect tennis to be a widely-played sport when people have to pay £18 to use an indoor court (in a country where playing outdoors is very difficult for a lot of the time).

NB Is that 18 for the two of you ? Or 18 each ?

Sorry to hark on about it but, AI, my club membership in southern France costs about 150 pounds for the year. 20 pounds goes to the FFT. The rest to the club, which has 4 outdoor courts and 3 indoor courts and which is available 24/7 as much as I want, no extra fee for the indoor court, apart from an electricity token (1.50 for an hour) if you need lighting (subject to booking only up to 48 hours in advance and which is hardly ever a problem because there is another almost identical club about 5 minutes away and about 8 smaller ones - all with one indoor court - within 10/15 mins drive).

In answer to your question, I would pay the contribution if I was completely convinced that the fund was being well managed and structured properly. But, as one of the richest federations in the world, the LTA have to provide facilities, and a playing structure, to the public so that they can play and compete. Then we will have more players, hence more sponsorship, hence better results etc. etc. etc.

£18 for the court, £18 each would be beyond ludicrous lol

I thought that was quite cheap for an indoor court.

One of my staff  plays, but is not a member of a club and actually finds it cheaper to play tournaments than hire an indoor court...
