Katy seals it with an ace GSM 6-1 6-3. Rona has some potential, and it was nice to get a glimpse of how she plays.
I agree Pocky. I saw Rona play Georgia Craven at Paddington. It was a very good game, the highest quality overall (from memory) of any I saw. I liked Rona's athleticism and commitment to the ball, a strong player, but thought she 'forced' a bit too much. Georgia has a more fluid shot.
I hope Rona plays some futures - 25ks are a bit strong for her at the moment. (Georgia off to uni).
Good luck to Katy - she's obviously got a far more exciting profile at the moment. Time will tell . . .
I liked this from Georgia on Twitter: "Got my first WTA point today qualifying at Loughborough....only 12260 to get before I overtake Serena Williams in the rankings..."
Not the best draws - Mel v Jade should be interesting though!
L32: (Q) Katy Dunne WR 964 v Ana Bogdan (ROU) WR 322 (CH 317 last week) L32: Jade Windley WR 312 v (WC) Melanie South WR 614 - H2H 0-1, 2 & 4, Pune 25K 2008 L32: (WC) Lucy Brown WR 616 v (Q) Justyna Jegiolka (POL) WR 448 (CH 311 in 2011) L32: (Q) Georgia Craven UNR v Katerina Kramperova (CZE) WR 385 (CH 314 in Apr) L32: (5) Samantha Murray WR 165 v (Q) Lina Stanciute (LTU) WR 877 (CH 197 in 2009) L32: (WC) Katie Boulter WR 916 v Pemra Ozgen (TUR) WR 214 (CH 212 last week) L32: (Q) Anna Fitzpatrick WR 785 v Tereza Martincova (CZE) WR 315 (CH 311 in Aug) L32: (WC) Freya Christie UNR v (4) Magda Linette (POL) WR 157 (= CH) L32: Tara Moore WR 218 v (6) Renata Voracova (CZE) WR 199 (CH 74 in 2010) L32: (Q) Anna Smith WR 692 v (2) Alison van Uytvanck (BEL) WR 150 (= CH)
Another tough draw, but I can see at least 3/4 making it through. Sam, Jade/Mel, Tara has a 50/50 match and I can see Lucy with a reasonable chance of progressing. The other may have to catch their opponents on a bad day.
Add: thoroughly enjoying watching a bit of Katie B playing. She's being given the run around in this second set rather by the young Turk, with all her chippy choppy stuff, but there's some really good stuff . . .

Entertaining match between Jade, one of the fittest GB players out there on the tour, and Mel South. Mel up 3-2*, but LONG games with Jade moving the ball around nicely but with less power than Mel. If this goes to 3, will be quite entertaining, even amusing, to watch as Mel is already taking every second between points and extending the 90 second breaks as much as possible!
Almost any DTL shot that Jade attempts, Mel simply doesn't make any attempt to move towards the ball - nothing!

Where has this Stanciute been for the past couple of years?! Sam in real trouble, but not playing all that badly.
She's just been losing a lot, by the looks of it, though as a former top 200 player she must have still had it in her. Still a shocking couple of weeks for Samantha if it carries on like this - she'd been doing very well (and been pretty consistent) until recently so I wonder if she is either not fully fit or trying to change something about e.g. her serve and it just isn't working yet.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Tara had chances to break in a marathon game at 4-4 but Voracova eventually holds then breaks (partially aided by a dubious line call at the start of the game) to take the first set 6-4
Edit: Tara takes the second set 6-1

Young Katie Boulter 5-2* up on Pemra Ozgen. Was serving for the set at 5-1. Very aggressive today. No quarter given. Good to see. I'm not expecting Katie to win, but she's playing as though she expects to win, which is more important!
