RE: Week 39 - ITF ($25K) - Loughborough, UK Hard

Beth gave a good account of herself, but lost the 3rd set 6-3. Matches pretty much to form so far.

Katy Dunne very pleased with her performance

First match back since the us and it was a million times better! Was one game away from getting a double bagel, darn it!!

Think Dasha has a totally false ranking compared to better players like Harriet and Katy. Most of her points were earned in Egpyt against unranked players or those who had gained rankings in a similar way.

Yes Jaggy I agree Jess Ren  Laura Diegman are similar in that respect.

Saw Dasha in Edinburgh and she is ok nothing spectacular but at least she has a weight of shot unlike Jess Ren.

Geogia having a battle royal with Le Roux. Lost the 1st set tie break 7-5, won the 2nd set 6-1, went 2-0 down in the third, broke back got broken again, broke back again and held for 3-3.

Fantastic win for Georgia 6-3 in 3rd set. There is a second GB player guaranteed through now, with the Annas probables.

Yes the last two games involved lots of deuces and she won them both to take the last 5 games and the match.

Yes. Really well done Georgia. Must be her best scalp, no ? I'd back her against Nicole Peterson too.

(Not too sure about Anna F. though - Miyazaki (our own GB Japanese) is in good form).

There is a stream for this tournament on the LTA site at:

I haven't tried it (the registration screen has put me off a bit for now, but I am told that it works)

Georgia has taken the first set 6-4 (despite being 1-4 down).

Ceire lost the first set 6-0 but is now 3-0* up which must make her feel better.

And Harriet takes the first set 6-4 against Justyna, WRA 447 (who hasn't been on great form). Go Harriet !

Watching Katy vs Rona. Interesting match - a bit messy, but enjoyable. Rona has a big forehand but at the moment is either hitting it long or into the net more than hitting winners off it (several chances on BP lost with a netted forehand). Katy has great movement and footwork (from what I can see on the stream) and has nice ground strokes (though not as big as Rona, but much more consistent).
