And with absolutely nothing to come off until the start of March (!) and 4 zero-pointers to bounce off, Dan can only stay still or go up in the next few months.
Fantastic result for Coxeh. Now that he has both points and dollars in his kitty, I think facing Smyczek will be fantastic for his development and he probably has a chance of pulling off the upset given the sort of steam he is building.
Another Challenger win will get him a new career high, in all probability.
Seems irritated and embarrassing himself apparently. Did anyone else hear that?
Yes, there was a "f***ing (inaudible)," "I f***ing shouldn't be here, should be in England" and a "you're a f***ing embarrassment, Evo" (I may have mis-remembered the word order or missed the odd word) which prompted the umpire to take a quick break for ordering around and telling off the ballkids to give him a code violation.
Ahh that's what it was. Thanks. Guess he has to be a bit careful about getting another warning. Heh yeah its funny how they're always practically training them in between points at these events.

I'm looking forward to watching more tennis tonight. I'm sure that DE v.BK will be closely watched by cognoscenti national coaches. In such rematches, revenge is quite common. Having said that, Dan hasn't had an off day since Lexington and that was many, many matches ago. I hope that Dan can expect to be seeded in Challnegers by the end of the year....
A pity (especially given Kokkinakis is the R2 opponent for the winner) but no disgrace - those two do look very evenly matched, though obviously Dan wasn't playing anywhere near his USO level.
Round-up:
L32: Ed Corrie WR 344 lost to (1) Denis Kudla (USA) WR 99 (CH 90 in Jul, 2010) by 0 & 2 L32: Dan Evans WR 157 lost to (5) Bradley Klahn (USA) WR 134 (CH 123 in Aug) by 6-3 3-6 7-5 L32: Dan Cox WR 268 beat Benjamin Mitchell (AUS) WR 245 (CH 209 in 2012) by 7-6(2) 6-1
L16: Dan Cox WR 268 v (2/WC) Tim Smyczek (USA) WR 105 (CH 101 in Feb)
Smyczek reached R3 at the US Open (though with a relatively kind draw), taking Granollers to 5 sets there.

I've been improving my knowledge of Californian geography. Napa, Sacremento and Tiburon are all close to San Francisco. Way, way easier than the travelling he would have had to do had he decided to play in France & Belgium!
