RE: Week 39 - Challenger (€50,000) - Napa, USA (Hard)

Just looking, Mitchell seems very similar to Cox. Won tons of matches at Futures level, but nearly always loses first round at Tour level, and nearly always 1st or 2nd round in Challengers. Should be close

Admission : I don't think I've ever really talked to anyone about Evo, well not using that nickname, but in my mind it has always been ee-voe. Ah....

Same here lol, and I have talked to my friends about him. Friends who like tennis and would like to know more about the British players but who just don't have time or don't know how/where to follow so much as me and I have always said it to them as ee-voe too. Mildly embarrassed if that is incorrect.

Shall now start to refer to him as e-vo and see if anyone notices

Definitely not the kindest draws - coincidentally, all of their opponents had their biggest pre-seniors/pros results in 2010:

L32: Ed Corrie WR 345 v (1) Denis Kudla (USA) WR 95 (CH 90 in Jul, 2010 US Open boys' runner-up)
L32: Daniel Evans WR 152 v (5) Bradley Klahn (USA) WR 133 (CH 123 in Aug, 2010 NCAA singles champ)
L32: Daniel Cox WR 296 v Benjamin Mitchell (AUS) WR 243 (CH 209 in 2012, 2010 Wimbledon boys' runner-up)

Evo v Klahn H2H - 1-2, Evo won 2 & 4 at US Open juniors in 2007, Klahn won 4 & 0 in juniors in Australia in 2008 and then Klahn won their first senior meeting in this year's Aptos Challenger Final 3-6 7-6(5) 6-4.

No, he would only rise into the 130s, partly because he has 18 points coming off from a 10K Futures win but mainly because he is getting up to levels where the points gaps between players tend to be significantly bigger than they are in the 200-300 range, or even the 150-200 range for that matter.

As for the E-vo / Ee-vo thing, I always assumed it was obvious that the E had the same sound in Evo as it does in Evans. Clearly though, if people get the wrong impression, it sticks - even in the face of pretty strong evidence to the contrary. no At the Davis Cup tie in Coventry, there were plenty of people who kept calling out Ee-vo, even though most of us were pronouncing it the right way ... and more to the point, even though the GB bench pronounced it E-vo when they cheered for him, as did Dan when he talked to himself on court, as he so often does.

I've been using Ee-vo since 2006/07 and I'm not changing that!

What is the deal with Boggo, people? Is he unfit or just quietly toiling away in London and waiting for things to change?

I am from the south and just assumed it was Ev-o as it was just a shortened version of his name, however can see that it is a very easy mistake to make as in pro evo soccer.

It's 100% Evo not Eevo, already made that mistake, not to Dan himself but someone else ;)
All his tennis mates call him Evo rather than Dan as well.

I think I'll always think of him as Eee-vo, unless I meet him, which I can't see happening. Oh well, abit like the Yanks calling Djokers Jokervitch. lol
