Even if Mr Cox hadn't been having a bad day, beating Mr Smyczek was always going to be a tough ask. A good learning experience for Mr Cox ... and good on him for getting to the 2nd round.

I should be making a new thread for this, but yeah...

There's no Coxy in the Sacramento qualies draw, but Smethurst, Milton and Corrie are all there. Since Peliwo was above Cox in the entry list, it appears that Dan isn't playing here, unless they decided to give him a wild card as a birthday present.

For what it's worth, Mr Smyczek is now in SFs ... one more win (by my exceedingly rough calculations) might well be enough to get him into the top 100 for the first time (current points with SF place might have him just below). So Mr Cox lost to, for all intents and purposes, a top-100 player. Wonder whether his scoreline and possible absence from next week's competition indicate some kind of injury or health issue. Hope that's not the case.
