But loses the 2nd by the same scoreline.

Into a decider.

Good result and a chance for some decent points being a 15K

Very pleased for Matt. Very good result. (And who'd have thought that Matt, the qualie guy, would still be standing in round three when Ash and Alex had both been knocked out in round one . . . )

Great win for Matt there, good luck to him in the QFs.

As I said a few weeks back I have always been quite impressed with Matt when I have seen him play and I frequently think he should be ranked higher. Most of his defeats seem to be close run things. Hopefully he really take advantage of the way this draw has opened up and put some big points on the board.

Matt's match has started. 2-2

I remember your previous comments, RJA; Matt certainly seems to be someone who is working hard and is committed to trying to make a go of things. That's a lot of tournaments he's played. And if you reckon he has a promising game as well then that's encouraging.
And, noting his age (23), it would be quite normal if he was now beginning to move up a gear.
Good luck to him.

Certainly, it's really been starting to happen for most of our ranked 1990 borns this year.

Evans, Cox, Willis, Alex Ward...

All the best to Matt.

Damn, he's lost the first set 6-4.

But there are always two more (in theory) . . .

But now 3-3 - was about to type a sad face and then thought better of it, no sad face yet, 3-3 is fine, just paving the way for 6-3 (to Matt of course)

QF: (Q) Matthew Short WR 901 lost to (Q) Jean-Marc Werner (GER) WR 788 (CH 621 in 2012) 6-4 6-4

Shame. The stats (for what they show) seem to be very close.

Sounds like a Spaniard trying to say "Steve".
