Well done to both in the doubles and Marcus in the singles. Fingers crossed they keep winning matches out there.
Lewis seems to be struggling with singles quite a lot at the moment and hasn't really had a good year so far for him. For having such a big game based around a very good serve, to be beaten 1 and 1 in back to back weeks against okay players isn't brilliant. Fingers crossed he can find some form to finish the year off.
Bomb & Burts "On a roll" in their 4 consecutive doubles final & bombs 5th consecutive doubles final . Anybody got the professors mobile or email because Louis could really take this exciting young doubles partnership places !
Very good to see the partnership still being successful.
But I do so very much hope that Marcus's number one emphasis for a while at least will be seeing just how far he can get at singles.
He has accomplished much this year and clearly has the potential to go much further.
As long as the doubles compliments the singles fair enough, but surely his singles remains the priority. If Marcus were to win the title this week, not only would he be well into the 300s in the rankings, but provisionally up to GB No 8.
He must at least give himself the chance of getting to challenger level and seeing how he grts on there.
Very happy for the doubles (they are no. 1 seeds though, so expected to do well). And specially nice for Lewis.
But, at his age and with his talent, Marcus hopefully will be going all out to achieve the best he can in singles.
Hope his back holds up for this week and next and that the docs and physios etc. can help when he gets back to England.
I understand that they are no1seeds but a new PB of 16 consecutive doubles wins for marcus at this age is still very impressive Run .
Marcus will definitely be fully focusing on goal of climbing into the top 200 singles .
but it's a matter of timing if we do not seize the opportunity of pairing with Lewis then he will certainly snapped up by another player . I am keen to support a player from my fathers county of Kent and an all GB doubles partnership .Lewis would double up as a great travelling companion & hitting partner that could benefits Marcus's singles ambitions
They will also be our no1 pair in the Aegon national
Tier 2014 & National indoors finals in march 2014 .
They aren't on yet. Marcus's 96 points don't include the 18 from last week and the 10 minimum from this week so he's effectively on 124 doubles points.
Thats right A1, there is a 7 day delay in futures points being added so on Monday, last weeks 18 points will be added but not this weeks.............they'll be added on the following Monday and so on.
