What we tend to find rather annoying is spamming fools who keep starting loads of pointless threads. Pretty much every British player gets enthusiastic support on this forum without their manager having to come on here to spin their achievements.

What do you rate Marcus's chances of a 3rd singles title ?

What's the full SP on MW next opponent ?

if you're worried about what people say about his fitness on a public forum how on earth are you going to manage when and if the press comment upon it (assuming he makes his wimbledon target without further fitness conditioning).

For the most part I've ignored all talk about Marcus's shape.  We could start slating Dan Cox for being a short arsse - lack of inches is as just as much of a problem.

Whilst many people who post here may have little respect Lance Armstrong, I still hold him in high esteem. He did what it took to get to the top of a very dirty sport.  He would still have been a champion if all competitors were drug free.  As a youngster and a very young man, Lance was a triathlete and a great swimmer.  This gave him a well muscled torso and big shoulders.  Hauling this muscle up steep  mountains was not going to help, so he lost it by controlling his diet and not swimming.   This must have been hard, but he strived to be the best he could possibly be.  Marcus has the physique of a rugby forward.  This is not unhealthy or unusual.  There won't be many guys on tour who can bench press as much as Marcus.  The powerful upper body is going to slow him down.  Like Lance, he needs to change his body shape. Or, like Lance he needs to change his sport.....

Steve

Well left with as much class and logical thought as he showed through most of his stay.

He just didn't get it.

As RJA ( not "raj" ) said, we are enthusiastic supporters of British tennis players including Marcus and have enthusiastically talked about all his successes this year. To say, just because we are not though uncritical cheerleaders about players, and in particular his boy, that the English ( and Scottish ) hate winners is absurd.

A1 is the one who has put huge focus on Marcus in this forum. It is a bit naive to then think that we are then just going to ignore the elephant ( maybe unfortunate terminology in this case ) in the room. Though as I and one or two others had suggested, that particular angle had probably run its course for now.

Another very good looking win for Marcus. It would be great to see him win another title and break into the GB top 10 ( in fact as I said earlier and A1 picked up on, he could go as high as no 8 ).

What a rise he has had and it has been great to see the early talent shown by both Evo and Marcus beginning to be fairly dramatically shown again thanks to so much better focus.

"Elephant in the room" has to be why favourite comment of the week. Genius.

Not sure what Mr Lewis was attempting to achieve by "hijacking" the forum for a few days (I don't mean that in a bad way BTW), but his passion and commitment to GB tennis in general and Marcus specifically cannot be doubted. Single-mindedness, drive, passion and an unflinching belief that you are always right aren't always compatible with open discussion (very few successful start-ups are what I would call democracies), so there was always likely to be a few fireworks.

I like what you are doing, Mr Lewis, but not necessarily the way you go about it. But glad you are out there, for sure!

Just to say, Gary A1, I've thoroughly enjoyed about 90% of your posts. Some have been informative, some funny, some plain nuts but a bit of nuts does no harm.

And I have a lot of respect for what you're doing - you've certainly put your money where your mouth is and that's no mean achievement. And made a big difference to (at least) one guy's career, a tennis career story indeed which could become a bit of an urban legend. Congrats for all that and keep on going - everybody (I reckon) supports you in that.

But when you've been asked lots of times not to start countless new threads that are either direct repeats of other threads, or just provocative throw-away statements, or belong in another section, and the moderators have had to spend time to merge them, move them or delete them, it's just plain blo*dy-minded to keep on doing it. It irritates.

Your insights into the business of professional tennis are interesting. I'd like to carry on hearing them, in moderation and on topic.

Yes, it was very interesting in many ways to hear from Gary and his single mindiness has clearly been good for his business and could well be ( seems already to be ) very helpful to the tennis players he takes on.

If he would just "behave" on the forum and listen to and take account of alternative viewpoints.

I too know Marcus well friends on facebook and so on,
I use to write a bit on here mainly about EVO pronounced EV O
and yes I am north of Watford Gap
Some of the things I have said was EVO the real british Number 2 when he was ranked in the 300 -400
because knowing Dan like I do and having seen him winning events since he was fourteen I always knew he had the game to make top 100.
Before a ball was hit this year I made the prediction in the prediction thread that willis would make top 350 before the end of year a few people
questioned my decision ,but I did know that Marcus had been working hard and is results this year prove it.
So how can people come on here and criticise someone who this year as done so well.
Do you think anyone who is not anywhere near 100 per cent fit could do so well in 40 degrees of heat.
Marcus is heavy boned and is always going to come across as being big.
But at least while some of you are slaging willis off your not slaging EVO off.
