It's never too early to start dreaming about next year
I haven't worked it all out (partly because it's impossible to get it spot on without knowing all the DC rankings for the last 4 years, partly because some ties haven't finished yet and partly because the rankings are likely to be out tomorrow so it's not worth doing too much (guess)work on them) but I think the 8 seeds will probably come from the following 9 countries, with KAZ perhaps most likely to miss out:
CZE, ARG, FRA (we would play them at home)
SRB, USA, ITA, ESP (we would play them away)
CAN, KAZ (venue would be decided by lot)
Kazakhstan held onto 8th place at Italy's expense.
KAZ keeping ITA out of 8th place is good news, I think - it means a 50% chance of a home tie, and even KAZ away would probably be preferable to ITA away on clay at that time of year (if not perhaps for fans making the trip!), though either would have been good draws given the other possibilities!

Hmmm. "Bob in Kazakhstan". Think I had better get my car serviced !!
Bob. Glad you made it back safely and that you were able to enjoy the atmosphere first hand. I was very impressed with the location - looks like a great holiday destination. Local crowd certainly seemed to enjoy themselves without it ever coming across as anything nastier than being patriotic. The Croats seemed to take defeat with good grace in the end.
I'd love to have a tie against France at home personally.
Road trip from Brazil to the US? (Probably not the safest drive, but would be fascinating).
Paulisi, I'm fairly certain that the Bryan brothers have retired from mixed doubles, which may be what you are recalling ... but they've given no indication of retiring from doubles in the immediate future.
Wouldn't be wholly surprised if US put the tie on clay. Not necessarily our team's favourite surface, but Isner (while favouring hard courts) has done quite well on it, and the Bryans ... well, winning Madrid, Rome and RG this year rather speaks for itself. Then again, they did lose on US clay to Murray and Peers ....

Oh no! The one possible match-up where we wouldn't be strong favourites in the doubles. Which means Mr Evans will need to win at least 1 match (probably Querrey) for us to stand any chance. Possible, yes - but unlikely.
But at least it should be on hardcourts. And at least we avoided Spain away on clay!
Of all tyrannies a tyranny exercised for the good of its victim may be the most oppressive.... those who torment us for our own good will torment us without end for they do so with the approval of their own conscience
USA struggling for singles players at the moment, I think its a pretty decent draw. (The only thing being the nasty doubles rubber)
Querrey and Isner are just serves and forehands, Evans should have a good chance against either of them if he can make a lot of returns and will definitely frustrate the tall guys with his slice.
Accepting the limitations of the US singles players, partucularly Querrey, I would still actually say that the doubles offers the best chance of the 3rd win. The Bryans are beatable by a very good pair, sometimes...
