Glad BBD got to play, in a way it was good in an underdog situation, but the pressure must have been on. I hope he gets another chance soon.

Ah, they are saying on the Beeb if the first match on Day 3 is won in straight sets, the 5th rubber has to be played ( peesumably to give folk more for their money ).

But if it goes to 4 or 5 sets, the captains can agree to call off the 5th rubber.

Good thinking, Andy :)

Have I ever introduced you guys to my long lost cousin - Bob in Italy ?

He might just show up in a couple of months.

Well, that was more nerve-wracking than I thought it would be. Was that a Querrey look-a-like playing on Friday? It didn't look like the same person today. I thought he played very well almost throughout, though the scoreline doesn't look like it. Andy seemed right off in the second set, I'm not sure how he even got it to a tiebreak. I must go and check on his first serve % in that set, it seemed very low. I watched on the tv upstairs so didn't have access to any stats.

Fantastic team result.

I agree it does feel a little strange that we are now guaranteed to be in the World Group next year. Just to make some of you feel really old, this is the first time GB have won a World Group match in my lifetime (or Andy's for that matter).

Andy Murray is what he is, a truly great tennis player, and we should never take him for granted.

But really salute James Ward. Last April GB were 2-1 down to Russia in Coventry ( having been 2-0 down ) and James was 2 sets to 1 down to Tursunov...

...then he won the last 2 sets and Evo won so we won the tie 3-2. Then we won on the Davis Cup clay we love in Croatia..

..and now here James beats Querrey, again from 2 sets to 1 down, Andy does his stuff and we're into a winnable QF away in Italy.

Hail Andy, hail James, hail Leon and all who helped in this triumph !

They've just read out the Declaration of Independence at the superbowl - what timing!
