Big win for the proud Brit!

Get in. Brydan badly needs all the points he can get right now. Wouldn't surprise me to learn this is his highest ranked scalp since he became a Brit.

Not quite - he has beaten top 300 players since the switch, e.g. Zhyrmont WR 246 in Nottingham and Udomchoke WR 291 (albeit by retirement) in Astana. But a much-needed win given that he has dropped to GB no. 10 today.

L16: Brydan Klein WR 384 v (Q) Louk Sorensen (IRL) WR 1064 (CH 213 in 2010)

Sorensen has only been playing on the circuit again since July and he upset 7th seed Ignatik in R1 today.

Dave got broken completely unnecessarily in his opening service game (some daft UEs) but has now held and might be a bit more settled . . . 1-3* to Tennys

(NB I like Louk,, pleased to see him recovered)

Dave loses the first set 6-1.

I think it's fair to say that that was not the best set of tennis he's ever played . . .

Dave certainly seems to be a very up and down player. His last few weeks seem to be topsy turvy 3 setters. Lets hope for competitive second set.

Well, I wouldn't say that was better but Tennys dumped three FHs in the net which certainly helped Dave's cause . .. 2*-0

Key game in the middle where Dave played very well to get 3 BP and then Tennys played very well to save them.

The rest was not great. But another good qualification in Challengers for Dave. A new CH next week, I reckon. Hope the doubles goes well.

Pity.

Assuming Dave does go to a new CH, I make it that now more than half of the current GB top 25 will have hit CHs this year.
