C'mon, be kind - the fact that Dom GOT 10 set points should mean he was doing something right, no ? Can't just be his serve . . .
He certainly looks slow off the mark getting from side to side - but that may well be nothing to do with fitness and just because it's not a game he;s used to playing i.e. more to do with poor anticipation because he's not in that 'groove' week in, week out.
Frankly, for someone who's played only a couple of singles matches all year, to be holding his own at a full ATP tournament seems pretty mega . . .
But you may well be right - might just be coz I woke up in a good mood this morning, all smiley with the world . . .

Zeballos has to be the best draw as he is definitely a clay court player. I don't think Dom will really be too bothered though, he's done what he needed to do in picking up a bit of money and having match time on court

I've just realised how close Dom is to getting on the GB top 25 table for a week before his KL points come off! (only 4 points away, and would have easily been in a couple of years back)
Btw, Fognini reached the Final here last year.

GB on a shirt, Davis Cup still gleaming, 79 years of hurt, never stopped us dreaming ... 29/11/2015 that dream came true!
Dom's match has started and it's streamed. Currently 2-1 to Dom with serve.
Now *3-1. The Russian may have just played the wost service game I have ever seen, without serving a DF. 4 awful UEs in a row. Dom doing abolsutely nothing with the ball on return apart from getting the ball into play and trying not to make mistakes.
Maybe Karen Khachanov? He's only 17 and beat Hanescu in the first round according to the live scores! Impressive.
Must be. Not someone that has really appeared on the radar at big junior tournaments, although he's top 20 Juniors, so must have been there or thereabouts. Just checked - won a grade 2, then a grade 1, but no breakthroughs at Grand Slams. Fantastic result.

I don't blame him!! Dom needed 10 set points, most of which (post serve) he played with the aggression of a frightened lamb.
The Russian is so obviously the better player, but if you serve under 40% first serves and make UE after UE against a big server like Dom - this sort of thing happens. Dom has very little speed or mobility from side to side, poor footwork, and very little consistency on his groundstrokes (most forcing topspin shots going miles out) - but once he comes to the net he certainly looks the boss every time. And I'm scared by his serve, just watching!!
I actually thought he'd played some very good aggressive groundstrokes at times to get himself to the net. Not sure I've seen him miss "most" topspin shots at all!
