Week 38 - ATP 250 series - St Petersburg Open (hard)

Dom only has a couple of weeks left to keep himself on the singles rankings (his Kuala Lumpur ATP 2012 qualifying points come off on 30 September) and is having a go at singles qualifying here:

Bugger!  Just started one of these myself.  There was no sign of it when I started typing (*memo to self* Type faster in future! cry ).  I suppose I'll have to delete it now, given that my only comment was that I assumed Dom would be playing in the doubles with TCH. hmm

Scrub that! I see from seagull's post in the Week 38 rankings etc forum that he's there with Denis Istomin.

5-5 in the 3rd - come on Dom! He was ahead on Ivanov's serve at 4-4*, not sure if he had a bp, and now has 0-30 at 5-5*

Breaks to love and will serve for the match! In fact, he has had 17 break points and taken 4 (Ivanov has taken 3 from 4)

QR2: Dom Inglot WR 948 v Alexander Igoshin (RUS) WR 1056 (CH 1004 in May)

Beating Igoshin would keep Dom on the singles rankings for another year.

 Well done ! That was close . . .

Presumably Dom could keep a singles ranking by entering a futures event somewhere if he really wanted to - I know he wouldn't be at the futures for the doubles so it would have to be a one-off thing. But it could be fitted in, I imagine.

Yes, but I doubt he cares that much about it - it's just nice to have if he can do it as part of his normal schedule, and he now pretty much has only a typical Futures R1 opponent to beat if he wants to keep his ranking anyway.

No point in starting a separate thread for the doubles:

R1:  Dominic Inglot & Denis Istomin (UZB) CR 152 vs (2) Max Mirnyi & Horia Tecau (BLR/ROU) CR 56 bleh

That's wretched. Just when I was hoping that they would win a few tournaments and move up the team list. But you never know ...

There is a live stream of Dom's singles FQR

Wonder why Dom doesn't play week in week out with Treat in doubles?
