"During the week, Paris trains at the National Tennis Centre in Roehampton and he is a member of David Lloyd Finchley. He maintains a strict training regime with a fitness trainer, and does yoga on a weekly basis.
"Tennis is all about coordination," he said. "There are things I have to focus on by myself, including stretching and fitness. I also do yoga. I feel the more I do now, the better I'll feel in the next few years."

Putting up some nice serving stats, yet to face a break point and won 77% of points on serve, 24/31

Josh takes the second set 6-4* Would be a fantastic win if he could pull it off....

Josh Goodall up a set and 5-2 on Orton, and Dan Cox now has a break in the 2nd *1-0

Looks like CD's junior "tip" Mr Paris continues to hold his own with the men. Just taken set 2 (after a close set 1) to take his match against the American into a decider.
I think CD's point about JWH is an interesting one - that he may be one of the only truly outstanding all-round athletes amongst the group of boys/young men. In the same way, Andy is an outstanding athlete and would probably have been a great football player - as would Rafa no doubt - both love the game and have shown some talent at it.
The other implication might be (although I don't know Josh's background) that he hasn't been grilled and trained from the crib, as with many other kids from "tennis families", given his clear interest and talent in basketball. Basketball is not a sport that tends to be played much in independent or grammar schools which (with some sadness) I'd imagine produce a disproportionate amount of the "talent" seen by the LTA, along with the kids of tennis coaches. It might well be then, that he has a lot of catching up to do in terms of training and tactics and experience compared to many of his peers, which augurs well for his potential to match or even surpass the potential of those young men ranked above him........in other words, he is more raw, but has more upside, given his athletic and ball-skills ability.
Will be interesting to look back in 3 years time to see if CD got this one right.
Unfortunately young Josh (Paris) lost 6-2 in the final set
Old Josh (Goodall) though, just won in straight sets 7-5 6-3, whilst Luke Bambridge has fought back against Cox in the 2nd set, Cox is currently serving at *3-4 and it's deuce

I'm new to the forum, just stumbled upon here and noticed you were talking about Chris Anguelov! We're in the same uni team together (London School of Economics), so I'm a close friend of his. What happened when Chris got defaulted against Nick Jones the other week as I've yet to ask him? He's got a very bad temper at times and can really fly off the rails so there is no surprise there, also he's desperate to get an ATP point so I can imagine he tightened up against Nick (a very very winnable match) and lost his head a bit.
Good stats by the way @GBTennis, it's nice to keep up with how all the Brits are doing in my age group (Sam, Myles, Jathan, Liam etc) because I grew up playing with them.

I was at Wrexham that day and this is what I wrote on the forum later that night
Okay, the Anguelov default. I hardly saw any of this match as I was watching others but multiple times during the match Anguelov could be heard loudly berating the umpire and line judge. Someone told me that he was complaining about ever close decision that didn't go his way. Anyway, Anguelov was serving at 5-5 in the third and had complained about one decision during the game. He got to deuce and the line judge called foot fault on his first serve. He went ballistic and pretty much accused the linesman of cheating. A couple more points go by and after another call went against him and he literally stated screaming for at least 20 seconds. James Ireland, who was playing on a nearby court told him to shut up because other people were trying to play tennis. The two then exchanged some heated words culminating in Ireland calling Anguelov a "f*cking idiot". Play resumed and Jones broke to lead *6-5. Anguelov then approached the line judge and bellowed at him "You are a F*cking disgrace". The line judge immediately ran off to get the supervisor who on arriving at court spoke to the umpire and Jones was given the win by default

Interesting thoughts re JWH and that coming really seriously into tennis later than most he might have some catching up to do and thus much more improvement.
I wasn't really doubting what CD and some others had said ( I've hardly seen him ), just putting it out there that so far JWH's results had not matched some of the hype. But I can now see some possible reasons why.
Will be very interesting to see how he progresses.

Depressing result in some ways! Apart from early in the match JWH was always ahead yet kept being pegged back. Perhaps CD's commentary on him lacking mental strength, or rather not defaulting to tried and tested patterns of play at key moments, or not yet having the courtcraft or experience to identify an opponent's weaknesses and adapt accordingly.....making the difference.
I'm guessing JG bunted and BH sliced the ball up the middle with little aggressive intent on most of the BP moments and key points, waiting for the mistake - probably quite effective in the past at Futures level - but simply not enough at CH or ATP.
There's no point winning more points, if your opponents take more of the critical ones, I guess.
Mr Goodall won 6 of the 10 BP points in the match, and both of the key points to "break" at the end of each TB.
In the other match with Ed Corrie there have also been 10 BP points to the end of the second set, all but 2 on Ed's serve. Ed has won 9 of them. In other words I suspect the American has been on top the whole match so far, but Ed has won 90% of the important points - so 1 set all.
