RE: Week 37 - Great Britain F19 ($10,000) - Roehampton (Hard)

FINAL: (1) Dan Cox WR 302 beat (4) Josh Goodall WR 488 by 7-6(8) 2-2 ret.

That's Dan's 5th Futures singles title of the year (matching his 2010 title haul) and his 11th overall.

He seems to be having more trouble rather than less winning these titles though, which is a bit worrying as he prepares to move up to Challengers. Hoping more quality / less quantity will do him good though!

Re the 20 in the top 500 mission, OK shift the goalposts from Josh M on 66 points to hoping Josh G on 63 points can get in on 23/09. There is a slim chance with 63 points currently covering WR 508 to 516. Guess we need rather a few guys just inside the top 500 to be defending points this week and next.

Noone relevant from GB has any further points to defend for the following Monday 30/09.

So Josh, your mission is to get fit and ready ( the retirement is slightly worrying ) and be prepared to get yourself into the easiest looking challenger qualifying the week after next. Just 3 qualifying points could do nicely !

So I'd only heard about how unfit/frankly overweight Marcus was until I saw that video. Wow. I'm surprised anyone is willing to continue sponsoring someone in that kind of shape.

Interview with Dan - http://www.lta.org.uk/fans-major-events/AEGON-GB-Pro-Series/News/2013/Roehampton/Cox-triumphs-with-Aegon-GB-Pro-Series-Roehampton-title/ in which he says he was intending to play in Izmir but has decided to take a week off to let some injury niggles settle down.

Hmm, if you play dubs along with going deep in the singles draw, you risk injury. It's hardly rocket surgery.

Anyway, congrats to Coxy on another title. It's easy saying that he should be winning all these matches, but being a favourite can have its own share of difficulties.
