Very impressive serving stats from Goodall. He tweeted a while ago to say he was no longer training, I presume that's still the case which makes this week even more of an achievement

He says he's been coaching 8-10 pm every night this week too.

Good week for Josh but what does it say about the players he has beat?

Glad to hear that Josh G is getting his coaching career going.

I don;t think a couple of hours a night would have any detrimental effect on his playing though i.e. I don;t think it's a negative on the guys he beat.

No, but the fact he isn't in training any more kind of is a negative on the guys he beat...

That was my point.

Yeah, I got it. Just don't think Coup Droit did. I think he thought you meant the fact he's coaching for 2 hours a night had negative connotations.

I asked Josh after his match what he thought about JWH, "****y but good player". Haha, all good. Gotta have a bit of spunk about you to reach the top!

What does it say about Ed Corrie. Disappointing end of year for Ed!

"Very gd player. Massive serve but needs to learn how to use it better
Big points I worked out where he was going"

Goodall on JWH

Ed doesn't even have the small consolation of winning the doubles title alongside JWH.  Lewis & Marcus run out the s instead:

Final:  (3) Lewis Burton & Marcus Willis CR 1230 defeated (1) Ed Corrie & Josh Ward-Hibbert CR 1094 by 4-6 6-4 [10-8]

Must have been a thrilling match, and at least Marcus gets some consolation, even if Ed doesn't.

And Marcus and Lewis are off to Kuwait together, I believe, to play singles and doubles so nice for them to leave on a high.

Sorry, guys, if I misunderstood you re Josh G, and interesting to hear his comments. Maybe it's more a question of what some people were saying a few months back - that for Josh it was never a question of not having the tennis, just a problem of not having the 'head' - maybe he's under no pressure now, he can play a lot freer and easier.

I don't think there's a lot to be said about Josh beating other players after stopping training. After all he was the futures top dog and close to the top 200 as recently as the beginning of the year and as CD says now that he has no pressure he can play freely and just go for it. I mean the game doesn't just go and he's only been retired for, what, 2 months if that?

So tell me if I am wrong.

Given the results for Rich G in Turkey and Josh M getting through qualies in Istanbul this week, it basically means that if Josh G wins the final tomorrow, we get 20 in the top 500.
