Week 37 - Great Britain F19 ($10,000) - Roehampton (Hard)

Last outdoor event of the year on British soil

A whopping 18 Brits should be DAs here. They are Cox, Willis, Farquharson, Goodall, Marsalek, Burton, Bloomfield, Broady, Ward-Hibbert, Bambridge, O'Mara, Malik, Martin, Ireland, Carter, Orton, Hutt and Jhun.

Thornton-Brown may have made it in through a late withdrawal or might have a wild card. Probably also a wild card for Ed Corrie and maybe also for Hoyt and Suleau (both on the acceptance list but not in qualifying).

For the first event in quite a while the Qualifying draw is full. 5 ranked players are all Brits so a decent shot of 8 British qualifiers.

Gone to watch the qualifying. Who was the guy defaulted a couple of weeks ago for going crazy at the umpire and is he playing here? Will be interesting to see if he's always that mad.

Bulgarian guy, Chris Anguelov. Plays Sterland-Markovic in QR1, a polish guy in QR2 and probably Oliver Hudson in FQR.

Tomorrow's OOP is out and it strongly indicates that all QR2 matches will be finished today (they moved indoors due to rain earlier in the day).

That makes more sense. Thanks.

Does anyone know if it's easy to watch/spectate at the indoor courts ? I was thinking of going down sometime during the week and weather may well be fine but, if the indoor courts are sort of blocked off and there's no seating at all, and the weather is a little dodgy, I'm not sure I'll bother. (If indoors is fine then that's OK obviously).

Yep it's fine to watch on the indoor courts, a long balcony down the side with a few benches spaced out.

Final Round Qualifying

Oliver HUDSON (GBR) [1] 6-2 6-1 Kamil KALETA (POL)
Shakeel MANJI (GBR) 6-3 6-2 Craig WALKER (GBR)
Harry SKINNER (GBR) 6-1 6-2 Richard STERA (GBR)
Joshua PARIS (GBR) 6-4 3-6 6-1 Egbert WEVERINK (NED)
Scott CLAYTON (GBR) [5] 6-4 6-2 Samuel TAYLOR (GBR)
Isaac STOUTE (GBR) 6-2 6-1 Robert MORRIS (GBR)
Tom ALLEN (GBR) 6-4 6-3 Marcus GAN (GBR)
Keelan OAKLEY (GBR) 6-4 3-6 6-1 Sam PRICE (GBR)

Wild cards for Corrie, Whitehouse, Hoyt and Thornton-Brown. Marcus Gan gets in as a lucky loser. Therefore we have 30 Brits in the main draw, which could well be a record.

PS: I am about to type out all singles matches

30 Brits in the main draw - that's almost Brazilian! As well as a repeat of last week's Final in R1, the GB no. 25 and GB no. 26 play each other, as JWH gets another tricky draw:

L32: (1) Dan Cox WR 302 v (Q) Harry Skinner UNR
L32: Luke Bambridge WR 863 v (WC) Mark Whitehouse WR 1787
L32: Jathan Malik WR 1058 v Sam Hutt WR 1243 - H2H 1-0, 6 & 4, Nottingham 2013
L32: (7) Lewis Burton WR 667 v Ronak Manuja (IND) WR 1317

L32: (3) Marcus Willis WR 431 v Jonny O'Mara WR 1035 - H2H 1-1, both 3 sets this year
L32: Liam Broady WR 677 v Rob Carter WR 1197 - H2H 3-1, 2-1 in seniors including last week's Final
L32: Toby Martin WR 1064 v (Q) Isaac Stoute UNR
L32: (5) James Marsalek WR 608 v (Q) Tom Allen UNR

L32: (8) Richard Bloomfield WR 714 v Josh Ward-Hibbert WR 723 - H2H 1-0, 3 sets, Nottm Ch Q last year
L32: (WC) Evan Hoyt WR 1787 v (Q) Oliver Hudson WR 2138
L32: Myles Orton WR 1186 v (Q) Shakeel Manji UNR
L32: (4) Josh Goodall WR 488 v (WC) Adam Thornton-Brown WR 1420

L32: Alex Jhun WR 1435 v (6) Tyler Hochwalt (USA) WR 580
L32: James Ireland WR 1052 v (Q) Joshua Paris UNR - H2H 1-0, 3 & 5, Bournemouth 2013
L32: (Q) Scott Clayton WR 2129 v (Q) Keelan Oakley UNR - H2H 0-1, 4 & 2, Newcastle 2011
L32: (2/WC) Ed Corrie WR 342 v (LL) Marcus Gan UNR

Edit: aargh, sorry RJA, I thought I had caught the draw early enough to get away with typing out the draw without having to post that I was going to do it first. In fact, looking at the times, if I hadn't got a phone call in the middle, I'd have managed to get this up before you said it and thus saved you the work. cry
