RE: Week 36 - Challenger (€42,500) - St Rémy, France (Hard)

L32: (Q) David Rice WR 380 lost to Pierre-Hugues Herbert (FRA) WR 211 by 2-6 6-1 7-6(4)

Gutted for Dave after all that effort - what a win that would have been.

That was hugely close. Well done, but gutting indeed.

Rough fortnight. The Skupskis seem to do a good job of rebounding from adversity, though ... so good chance that things will look up shortly.

Ken: Unfortunately a neck injury during practice meant I wasn't able to play anywhere near my level today. Hopefully be fit for next week.

Pleased to learn that there was a plausible explanation for the boys' apparent sudden lack of form at this level, but not that it was as a result of an injury. cry

Another rollercoaster for Dave Rice - at least we know he is competitive at challenger level, the French lad is quite useful.

Followed this singles thread, without knowing Dave's result - steven, I was holding my breath as i read down your posts !!! And . . . NO .... AAARGGGHHH!

Given his tight scores against much lowlier opposition in the qualies, to get an equally tight score against PHH is quite amazing/sad/brilliant/whatever.

However, he;s taken the first set in the doubles 7-5 with Sean. Hopefully, they can see it out . . .
