I half-wondered about that then thought surely not ... but you're right, it is!
If he can get past top seed Haider-Maurer or Oli's conqueror Dubarenco in R2, he would break into the top 300 and probably be GB no. 4 next Monday.
Dubarenco looked very competent and solid yesterday against Oli, if rather unspectacular. Depending on how tired/motivated Haider-Maurer is feeling after having returned from the US, it's a tricky match but he ought to be too good. Kyle, if he served like today, would probably be far too good for Dubarenco..........and in the spirit of Dan Evans wanting to prove how good he is against the better players in the draw, I'm sure Kyle would relish to chance to beat the Austrian and start to make people sit up and notice.
Not a shame at all. Chance for our big young hope to test himself against a top 100 player. Can't wait, awesome draw

Sorry, John, but I agree with Phil. Shame about the draw.
As Kyle is progressing he will more and more naturally face tough challenges as actually in this R2 draw or if he is good enough simply face the top player(s) at a later and more important stage. I see no reason to wish for early very tough draws.
What I feel is best for him is getting as many good competitive matches as he can and win as many as he can with the ranking points that come with wins.
Anyway, we are where we are and it should indeed be a good test. Looking forward to seeing how Kyle does.
Can't find an answer - Julien Hoferlin, much as I quite like him, is as much use as a chocolate teapot! - but Darren Walsh and partner (Gonzales) won their first set in the doubles 6-0 !
