Food poisoning!

And the Canadian Diez who lost tamely today in the singles also retired from doubles for the same reason

Unpleasant, but not as bad as an injury that might hamper him for a while.
Get well soon Kyle!

I remember last year at Newcastle when Kyle got dehydrated and got the runs and then decided to play, before having to retire after only 1 set of his quarters.
No point in playing if you've got somthing like that.

Ward's defeat is made all the worse as he would have faced a 16 year old wild card in the QF.

Given Ward's form this week, today might have saved him the embarrasment

Wonder if Kyle was invited round to the top seed's hotel room for dinner last night ;)

Means kyles played 4 tournaments and 15 different opponents since wimbledon, and only one person has been able to beat him

I think not!

I do hope Kyle isn't one of those old school Brits who suffer with "alien" food! smile Will be a lot of similar experiences in hotels and restaurants in far flung places all over the world over the next 10-12 years for Kyle.

I'll wager it was some kind of gastric bug in the hotel - much more likely than old-fashioned food poisoning.......ruined a skiing holiday for me a few years back (and many others in the hotel) even though the food was fantastic! Very hard to do anything about it really.

At least its nothing "serious".

Darren & Ruben had better watch out...

Oh dear!  As I feared:

SF: Teodor-Dacian Craciun & Petru-Alexandru Luncanu (ROU/ROU) CR 1874 defeated (3) Ruben Gonzales (PHI) & Darren Walsh CR 462 by 2 & 4 bleh

A postscript to Wardy's seemingly poor loss earlier this week - Melzer has gone on to reach the Final without dropping a set and is a set up on top seed Haider-Maurer at the moment!
