I thought I remembered a Vladimir Karpets, but he's a cyclist! It suggests the name exists in Russian though, so maybe one day ...

Looks like we have all been "floored" by this one.

I'm sure I've heard of a player named Berbatov.

I wonder if the "carpet" can be found across the two names? There's no tennis player called Oscar Petrov, I suppose?

Too bad that Jack Carpenter didn't make a typo whilst registering himself.

I'll be covering this event for the Yorkshire Times again this week. Here's my preview. Obviously we'll be spotlighting the Yorkshire-grown talent as always... ;)

Hmmm. Closest I could get was CARly PETit. But Jo Dur[r]ie is actually quite close on the carpet front, as well as for hard courts.

Saying of my mother's (no doubt an old Yorkshire saying: "All the world save thee and me is a little mad, and even thee's a little mad"

Actually I think the original was "queer" but that has a different connotation these days!

First set to Dan Cox 7-5. He's won all his Futures tournaments despite often struggling through service games and/or having to recover multiple breaks. Today is another example. I know he's not a tall man, but how good would he be with a strong serve on top of his obvious very competent game off the ground?

Myles Orton completes the upset, beating 8th seed Lewis (531 places above him) 2 & 3

Cannot make out Lewis. I thought he would kick on from last week.

Would like to see a few new GB faces picking up wins and points this week. Hope Ed Corrie has a good week.

I wish.  But I am pretty sure Dan won both of those matches.
