R2: MURRAY, Samantha (GBR) 189 beat MAJERIC, Tadeja (SLO) 3 122 (CH 115 in July) by 1 & 2 biggrin

2 of the 3 games Majeric won were breaks but Sam broke her 6 times in 7 games.

Mitu also upset a seed today but Sam thrashed her 1 & 0 on her way to the Glasgow 25K title last October.

This really IS starting to get into Sam's part of the year. Just when the others seemed to have peaked and are trying to hang on, she seems to come into her own. A heap of points to defend, of course, but this is a mighty fine start to defending them and more.

Saw Sam In Glasgow last year she played really well. Sadly no tournament this yeare as Scotstoun getting done up for Commonweath Games. After Sam result against a higher rank player I think top 150 next although she has points to defend

Well done, Sam. Get in your points defense early. Especially as far as the AEGON funding group goes, performances after a certain date may as well as have never happened.

Sam won the first set 6-2. Then there was an exceptionally long break before the start of the second set.....almost 10 minutes.

I think we all know what happened - this being womens' tennis.......

It's got to be stopped!!!!
