Yes, Richard is at most one win away from the top 500 on Monday week, 16/09 ( could conceivably have done enough already ), but unfortunately Josh Goodall will be out the top 500 then.
For top 500 the following Monday, 23/09, Josh G would have to win the Roehampton title. And also by then, Josh Milton will be out the top 500 ( on 61 points ) unless he can add some points.
The best opportunity for the moment for 20 in the top 500 was probably when Richard reached the semis last week and a title win would have done it. If he enters the top 500 this time, it will be a week too late.
Hopefully some of the younger guys can make the breakthrough, but that's still going to take a little while.

How rude of him to turn up a week late for the party.
Btw the GB men excluding Andy are rapidly approaching a record year for ATP singles points since the new points system began:
2009: 1742
2010: 1691
2011: 2062
2012: 2157
2013: 2141 (+ a definite 8 to add for Liam or Rob tomorrow)
The figures exclude points that Brydan won this year before he started playing for GB. Even if we exclude the 50 points he has picked up since in order to compare like with like, as it were, the boys should exceed the 2012 total in the next week or so, with 2-3 months of tournaments left to go

The good news in terms of getting 20 players in the top 500 is that Jamie Baker might just stay there till the end of January when his Aus Open points come off. It will however be touch and go when his Loughborough points come off in November.
Marcus DANIELL (NZL) / Richard GABB (GBR) [1] 6-1 7-6(2) Maximiliano ESTEVEZ (ARG) / Can OZTUZUN (TUR)
So?
