Sorry about that loss. Keenly aware that a SF place for either Murray/Peers or Inglot/Huey would have put them in a reasonable space potentially to contend for an alternates position in the year end championships. But one can only rejoice in three teams that made it to the QFs, all exceeding their seeding (where relevant) in the process. Brilliant results, and a terrific base for future work.
We'll have to disagree on that one. The Bryans work tirelessly to promote doubles and tennis in general, and are - by all accounts - very good colleagues and well liked on the Tour. A calendar-year Slam would have been good for them and good for tennis generally. By contrast, after Mr Paes' behaviour vis a vis the Olympics last year, he's not really a favourite in this corner. Had the Bryans gone down to Marray and Fleming (not only a GB pairing, but also another set of good colleagues and good ambassadors for tennis) that would have been different ....
Very well done to them all. Super stuff! Also noticed that barring the final (in which Peya was playing with an injury), Mr Murray and Mr Peers pushed the second seeds harder than any other pairing had.
If they do very, very well in the post-USO swing, do Messrs Inglot and Huey have any chance at the alternates role?

They've got 1470 points at the moment and the teams ranked 8, 9 and 10 have 2250, 2220 and 2030 respectively (and are unlikely to stand still between now and early November) so it's highly unlikely - they'd need something like a Masters title or a couple of Masters finals or a Masters final and an ATP 500 title.
