RE: Week 35 - Great Britain F17 ($10,000) - Wrexham (Hard)

Thanks RJA.

I really enjoy reading the 'live' reports - really interesting.

Are you going to be able or planning on going again ?

The lads down in Wrexham have all kicked off.

Adam and Nick obviously have a crucial match - 2 ATP points and a tiny-bit-bigger-than-normal-cheque to play for is a pretty rare event for them.

Liam is a break down but it's early days.

James and Josh are whizzing through their games - bet those serves are fizzing by.

And the anglo-irish encounter is on serve . . .

Sam Hutt is through as Glancy retired at 2-2, if ITF is to be believed.

Yep, Sam's just tweeted that Glancy 'pulled out' at 2-2.

Hope he's OK.

Glancy had a problem with his right hand / fingers.

I wonder if that means that Sam & Myles Orton will get a walkover into the semi-finals of the doubles...

RJA. I presume you are on site.

Would be very curious to know how JWH is approaching his BP opportunities, assuming he's had any chances on return. He's currently 0/5 in a match with no breaks at all middle of set 2.

Some players get overly tentative on BPs or big points (whether serving to save or returning to break) - obviously holding back so as to make sure they get the ball in play to start the point...........understandable as a principle, but it can set the tone for the whole point......James Ward often falls into this trap.

Is JWH playing it safe or has he had little to attack on those big points?

or gone for flat out attack and hit the side netting or back wall ?

0 out of 7 now . . .

JWH not playing well at all. Take out his serve and he would have lost already. Ireland has been pretty clutch to save those break points.

Confirmed by the ITF:

QF: Sam Hutt & Myles Orton UNR "defeated" (4) William Boe-Wiegaard & Daniel Glancy (USA/IRE) CR 2229 by a walkover
