RE: Week 35 - Great Britain F17 ($10,000) - Wrexham (Hard)

Blimey, I feel completely out of touch. I've not heard of any of this new batch. Who are the ones to watch?

Quick question: Why does Burton need to qualify when there are several lower-ranked DAs in the Main Draw?

He would have decided to play after the cut off for entries so, its either wild card or qualies.

I'm happy to write the draw out with rankings but since it takes a bit of time, I'll leave it for an hour in case someone else is already in the process of doing it.

just eyeballing the acceptance list and the drawsheet, it looks to me as though it's Toby Martin and the Swede, Lucas Renard, who are missing.

Cannot see anything but all 8 seeds getting through to the QF's. Poor George C got another rotten draw.

Carpenter was probably the guy most likely to upset a seed but he is in Cox's section.

 Good question ! To which I don't really know the answer . . . but . .

Jay Clarke is the 15 year-old who just got to the QF in the nationals (although seeded 2 so expected to do better but the seeding is a bit hit and miss)

Curtis is his big brother (age 18) - don't know much more

Bruce Strachan is an 18 year-old currently under the wing of the Paul Lawrie foundation and set on becoming a top tennis professional player.

Tom Hill is the 18 year-old who's been playing in Turkay for the last couple of weeks (qualifying for MD but no further)

Sam Price is the 17 year-old who also just made the QF of the nationals before losing to the eventual winner.

(Lewis and Adam are known, of course)

Don't know the others . . .

NB this made me smile :

Keelan Oakley @KeelanOakley 17h

Wrexham tennis centre isn't doing beans on toast any more, but don't worry, pineapple and cheese panini's are still on the menu

Thanks CP, trying to inspire myself to get my butt down there, but not even beans on toast now, and the coffee was c**p last time I tried it

Tom has conceded 14 break points. 14 ! Luckily for him, Adam's only managed to convert 3 but all the same . . . Adam 4-2*

Bruce has made it one set all v Myles.

If anybody, like me, has trouble finding the scores for this tournament this is a direct link -

scores.itftennis.com/

Sorry, that didn't work.  Just takes us to the usual page.  The direct one for scores just for this tournament I got off the LTA page.

Is GB about to get a new youngest player on the ATP rankings.

Jay Clarke has just taken the first set off Jack Carpenter by 6-3.

Go on, Helen40 - you'll know you'll like it when you get there !!! (But steer clear of those cheese and pineapple paninis - the devil's work . . . )

Adam TB and Myles both off to flying starts.

I know a couple of people have seen Adam and don't really rate him but he was so close (on paper at least) to an upset with beating Boy the other day, and now he's got Tom F. - no easy matches - I sort of wish him well . . .
