Mr Evans is clearly a media story in the US: US media/public seems to drive most USO decisions, and that Evans/Robredo has knocked not only the Ferrer match off of Armstrong but also Sock/Tipsarevic and Raonic/Lopez (which one would have thought will be a cracking match) is rather telling. Don't think it's just the need to have next-round opponents playing at roughly the same time (which presumably is the reason for the lateness of the match, given that Federer is at night) either.

Only hope 5L put it on, they didn't bother with his last match.

Unbelievable, simply unbelievable. Dan gets a prime time slot on a massive court and how does Neil Harman respond

As ever @usopen shows scant regard for coverage of their sport. Evans v Robredo last gives GB papers no chance of making it. As if they care

Oh shut up, Neil, of course they don't care. And in today's multimedia world I think we might just cope without your thoughts in the next morning's paper.

I had been thinking 4th on Armstrong was just great for Evo, and it is !

And wasn't Neil the bloke who didn't even bother going to his first match ?

Because, of course, there were so many other British players playing at that time - yes, that must have been why . . .

I think Evo will love it, the crowd will be fired up, great . . .

In his defence, Neil was full of praise for Evo in his report on the match in today's paper edition of the paper (subscription required for access).

Harman comes across as a right pompous individual. Saw a reply of his on twitter to someone enquiring about his print silence on Dan Evans' two challenger finals and he smugly replied that it was the equivalent of writing about non-league football. No Neil, it's the British number two posting significant results and you're a tennis correspondent for a major UK newspaper, I'm sure there's a few sentences of space you can fill between talking about Maria Sharapova's new haircut.

Harman's latest tweet

The day I stop fighting for the interests of British newspapers is the day I quit

So there you go Dan, Harman doesn't want you playing prime time because it doesn't suit British newspapers.

Sorry, Neil, but if you think there's much reason for the US Open folk to give much of a toss about British newspapers compared to all other considerations, you really are losing the plot. Yes, maybe you should quit anyway.

Gawd, what's happened lately to him ? He always was up his own **** a bit, but was still a decent tennis journalist, but lately I don't know..

Clearly the Federer match should have been scheduled daytime so that Evo's match could logically be also scheduled daytime so that the British newspapers wouldn't miss their deadlines with their big write-ups about Evo.

Not to mention his rather insensitive tweet comparing a headline about the Syrian decision with tennis. Such a massive plonker.

Grrr. looks like 5LSX are only broadcasting until 22.00, which is about when Evo's match should be starting

Has anyone got an email address to write to the Beeb. I think this is disgusting for British tennis.
