This is fantastic match. Whatever happens now no one can deny that Dan really, really belongs at this level.

Week 35 - US Open (men's main draw - Dan) - hard

Now, this time I'm as perplexed as you are, SC. Though I can guess at the emotion if not the exact words.*

I agree with RJA - I think going out in a close match like this might be much better for Dan in the long run than being obliterated by Fed because he was knackered after a long battle the match before. It should keep him motivated. And don't forget this was the poor soul's 6th match, including the 3 in qualies.

Onwards and upwards, please, Dan.

*Edit - once again, Google and the Urban Dictionary comes up trumps:

"dag nabbit sometimes used instead of dammit, also a thing to say when frustrated or mad."

Good hold from Robredo and Dan will have to serve out the set.

Dan had better finish this soon. I think he's on to his last shirt.

I use the urban dictionary when perplexed  (which is often). They have it as two words or as one:

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=dag%20nabbit

http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=dagnabbit

edit:just crossed with you Madeleine - actually, I rather like it the term, especially when said with US rural 'farmer' accent - might try it out (oh dear, ready to embarrass all those around me)

Loose from Evans from 40-15 but saves the BP.. I'm a nervous wreck watching this.. needs some 1st serves.. double fault instead.. BP.
Evo broken... Tight.

Robredo holds easily. Evo will have to dig deep now.

In the space of just a few minutes this match has turned on its head.
Nothing Dan could do there and Evo now serving to stay alive...

Evo on the brink at 30-30.. big serve.. robredo too strong.
Deuce. Come on Dan dig deep.. poor backhand.
Match point down...
Evo with yet another drop shot too many and he goes down, couple of poor games at the end and its over.

Heart breaker for Dan but it has been a stunning few weeks for him. His future looks brighter than ever before.
